BXCF login issuses

Post by citronut »

for a few months now i have had trouble logging in to the BX forum,

i enter my login details then as it switch's from the login page to the index page in un/logs me,
most of the time i have been able to then click the home button at the top of the screen, then immediately go back to the BXC bookmarked link, click on this and without entering any log in details it will log me in,

a couple of time this sequence has failed no matter how many attempts i try, as it is doing this evening

I've just logged in fine Malcolm...

However, I recall this used to be a problem years ago when the BXC was running the old phpBB2 software. It appeared to be resolved when we upgraded to phpBB3..

The old PHPBB2 problem was a badly configured cookie, which was fixed, but if you had the old cookie on your computer it would never work.

When we went on the backup server i think the cookie settings got muddled again. On my main computer the forum doesn't remember me and uses the backup system to track my access ie it doesn't use the cookie!

Yet on most other computers the cookies have sorted them selves out.

I would recommend Malcolm, that you delete just the BXC related cookies from your browser and see if it sorts things out.

I really should sort mine out too!
