Re: I-Spy Citroen H Vans (aka HY/TUBE etc)
Just had a random delve into the internet, to check out YAPP WINES emblazoned over Jim's pic of the Citroen H.
They have a shop rated by the Times as being one of the top 10 wine shops in the UK.
"It is worth the visit just to see this long-established family firm's famous premises, centred on a picturesque courtyard with a fine fountain, exactly modelled on the historic original at the heart of Châteauneuf du Pape in the Rhône valley."
Ned Halley - Western Daily Press, 21/04/2012
Mere another bypassed town I have never been to!
looks like they have a Traction Avant as well

A rainy day in Newcastle-August 2011
Here is a bit of rainy day, grainy photography from my 2011 portfolio
The picture paints a bit of a sorry sight with piled up road furniture, obliterating half of the promotional message.
Haven't spotted this one for a bit, but it was working for the "Hotel de Vin" at the time.
Takes my total up to a genuine 150 now!
Regards Neil

Re: I-Spy Citroen H Vans (aka HY/TUBE etc)
Not to worry Jim, you have registered your first 50 points with the photo, and I enjoyed my bit of random delving into YAPP wines.
Funny how you start noticing stuff, the car next to me in Morrisons car park today had an I-Spy book on the top of his dashboard. What are the chances of that happening!
To take my own personal total over the 200 mark I am either going to have to find the picture I took of a maroon and cream H van at the tall ships when it was at Hartlepool in 2010, or do a bit of new spotting activity. I have maybe exhausted the north east now, but there is at least one in York.
regards Neil

Do they still do I-Spy books then Neil or was it a vintage one you saw?
I think you've got us all H Van spotting now

Jim
Big Chief I-Spy and various native American references like braves and redskins, and the HQ at Wigwam-by-the-Water etc have all been quietly dropped but the books themselves are very much alive and kicking now.
Its probably the only product of Michelin that is affordable! When I acquired my first Xantia it had been owned by a Citroen Dealer employee and had 4 Michelins fitted. I sort of knew that they would be the last Michelins fitted to that car!

Re: I-Spy Citroen H Vans (aka HY/TUBE etc)
Excellent Neil, I'm really happy those books are still about..
My Activa is shod with Michelins and my V6 has two of them..
CostCO had a really good deal on Energys a while back and made them very affordable. No more expensive than budget tyres

Re: I-Spy Citroen H Vans (aka HY/TUBE etc)
I have pulled out a few Citroen H spottings from this thread:-
Spotted Xantias (and Other French Stuff)
As with all I-Spy verification though points could only be awarded with claim from the spotter and I'm not sure the contribution from Myglaren (undoubtedly a forum member of substantial standing)would pass verification as the original post admitted it was spotted by his son in London & Brighton!

Looks like this one is at the Cheltenham Jazz festival this weekend, and with the wooden boarding at the sides maybe it was originally what the French describe as a betaillere
Member Name: VertVega
That's the full set for now
Regards Neil

Re: I-Spy Citroen H Vans (aka HY/TUBE etc)
Well I have found my 2010 vintage photo of the maroon and cream H van at the Tall Ships at Hartlepool
Looks like I am 1/5th of the way to getting my certificate from Big Chief I-Spy
Regards Neil

Re: I-Spy Citroen H Vans (aka HY/TUBE etc)
The cheeky Italian referred to above and posted up by myglaren in the "Spotted Xantias (and other French stuff) thread gets about a bit. Its at the Cheltenham Jazz Festival this weekend. Looks like it was originally intended to transport livestock rather than serve meatballs.

Somehow I really don't find the prospect of Balls in a Bap very appetising...
Or is it some new form of punishment?

Is 50 points the minimum we get?
If so........
......in a field round the corner from our French place.
Although with a split screen is it an H ?

Re: I-Spy Citroen H Vans (aka HY/TUBE etc)
In such matters I always ask myself what would Big Chief I-Spy have said?
Yes often 50 points would be awarded for an unusual spot and I think there has to be bit of credit given for it being a genuine French sighting. However a go-er it is not, and Timmo got the point deducted for the tow rope on one of his spots.
Then again lets compare it in attractiveness to this, there are some more attractive ones out there waiting to be spotted:-
So, in summary how about a 49 for the scrap van, with a 51 waiting if you come up with something attractive for your second spot!
regards
Neil
