Excellent :-D Must be because it's running under Linux.... 8-)
You mean the normal FCF server isn't running on Linux ? Tsk tsk Jim, tsk tsk! :lol:

This one is much faster for me too, even on my phone. The normal one often gets slow to the point that I hit submit on a post, wait a few seconds and then think "oh crap, lost post coming up, and I forgot to hit CTRL-A CTRL-C :oops: " :lol:

Is it safe to post here or are all our posts this weekend going to be lost in the transition back to the other server ?

<gets out big wooden spoon>

It's flying along here, way quicker than before. I haven't had that weird double-posting thing going on either..

running under Linux
No Linux here yet, but it's coming since I have returned to civilisation and fast internet.
I've most of all joined the enlightened minority that uses Opera.
Downloading a page here only takes about 30 kB, :) while the usual place takes 250 kB. :evil:

Don't tsk me Simon! I don't host the production forum, only the test/contingency one which runs on Apache under Ubuntu Server so go and tsk Xac :wink: :lol:

The production one runs on IIS under Windows Server.

Interesting you say you find this one faster as actually my Internet speed is not that fast and nowhere near the speed achieved by the Internet connection into the production host.

Xac and I have many friendly and good-natured discussions on the Windows vs. Linux debate - we're both IT engineers who spend all day supporting Windows-based systems. I don't like taking my work home so I like to play Linux at leisure. Apart from my Windows 'phone which I think is marvellous, the only Windows machine in my possession is my Lexia laptop...

That is interesting Mike. The forums (this and the BXC) are running on their own dedicated server but it's nothing special; just an old HP P4 desktop with a gig or memory.

I'm quite amazed given my relatively slow Internet connection here... I thought it would, for the most part, run like a dog with three legs...

I agree that the forum is snappier now but wouldn't care to suggest a reason.

Still where they were.
It was mentioned that a few posts may become casualties of the disturbance and as there are none more recent that last Tuesday/Wednesday then they may be among the missing ones.
