I think this is a brililant idea if I'm honest. I was going to post the very same thing this morning, but forgot as I had to take the nipper to the doctor.

The autosh!te forum hasn't really suffered any ill-effects from their also being a Facebook page for the group - if anything, I think it's improved it. In my view, a facebook page would simply take over the "French car chat" part of the forum, nothing more.

It would also take load off the admins and servers of the forum, as any of us could be the admin of a FB group, no hardware is involved, and it can be used to post information about mystery service outages on the forum.

Another plus point is the uploading or random pictures of French cars can be easily shared, whereas on the forum - yep, you can put them in, but unless they're really, really worth it, you simply don't bother as you have to upload them to photobucket/flickr/google then do all that coding.. I know it's not much, but it shouldn't be so hard.

I'm not trying to kill the forum off, or even change it, it' s a great place, but I think it could be streamlined a little with the introduction of a Facebook page.. Maybe Luke will agree?

As for those who say "no, I don't use Facebook.."... that's ok, no one's forcing you to use it.

I have no problem with it. I used to be quite a Facebook user but no longer so you'll be very unlikely to see me there but I do agree it might be useful when there's an unexpected outage.

I should qualify why I don't use Facebook. This forum and Club-XM is plenty enough and any more is on-line overload so I don't. Simple as that. My browsing history is exceedingly boring and predictable...

As with Jim, I have neither the time nor inclination to have any dealings with Farcebook.

If you sign up for a Gmail account, there is far more than email.
There is a thing called Google Drive - a cloud repository for your files, an extension to Google Documents - online office effectively with word processor, spreadsheet, presentation etc.
Also Picasa for image hosting.
There is also Circles where you can add friends and family which is allied with or part of Google Plus.

I don't do social networking so avoid that area but the rest is very useful.
