ZX Owner Saying Hi

Post by beko1987 »

Hello!

My name is Sam, and I own a ZX 1.4 as my cheap work hack. Bought on a whim back in November, having never had anything to do with old or even new citroens before, and I love it so far!

More specific questions to come in the appropriate forum!

However, some pictures of my steed!

hi Sam and welcome
the ZX is becoming a scarce sight on the roads these days or at least around this area anyhow ( bottom end of the A21 East Sussex )

that TU engine is a very easy lump to work on,
but check the front face of the crank case cam belt end just below the head joint for oil, as they do suffer with head gasket failure at this point,

even still this is very easy to replace

Will check that when it stops snowing!

Before I got the ZX I rarely saw them, but I;ve seen a fair few now (wycombe/maidenhead). I parked next to an identical 1.4 8v in red with different trims the other week! I need to read the haynes take on the cambelt, it looks like there's lots of space, but having never done one before I want to go in with lots of knowledge.

The good thing about my zx is because it doesn't owe me anything, I;m going to use it as a learning mule, hence me wanting to do the belts myself. If it does break beyond repair, then it gets sold for spares! I hope it doesn't break though, I like it now!

Another thing, the heater controls dont do much, I have to close the vents off to direct air around. Would this be the fault of the control switch, or cables running behind the dash? It's not too bad, but slightly annoying! ZX's don't have a cabin filter do they?

Wow another Zx on the forum , very nice colour by the way . No cabin filter on the Zx , I'll get some info on the heater/cables as mine can be a little temperamental at times and doesn't help this time of year . At this rate we might even get the Zx's on the forum into double figures
