Unfortunately a few members were affected by thefts at the ICCCR.
At least 2 Semi-auto DS's had their hydraulic rubber covers taken on Sunday, but the following list is from Ewan's "jubilee" DS that was broken into on Sunday night after the Ukelele's

Theft was from the car on the main route from the main arena to campsite
(suggested by others as between 8-9 PM in the first part of the Ukulele
Orchestra). This is when people noticed their RHD DS's were targeted for gear
change rubber dashboard covers . Apparently people were asking stall holders for
these but they are no longer made.
Another visitor went (I think to Tom below but not sure) to buy a second pair of
front headrests as his first set were stolen on site. I am not aware of other
thefts apart from items in the hall by opportunists.
Doors were forced with a DS/ same era key and no damage was caused to the car. I
am very careful to hide things and fully lock my car at all times.

fellow enthusiast would do this to another DS fan.I am still in total disbelief

Re: Thefts at ICCCR
Theft at the ICCR is quite shocking and I'm surprised.
Of all the CCC events I have been to I have always felt that theft is about the very last thing to worry about. Gosh, I've even left my wallet and mobile in my car unlocked at rallies...

Re: Thefts at ICCCR
The thefts are quite disturbing and disappointing.
I have always felt quite secure in among Citroen enthusiasts, as you Jim. Never lock my car and always leave the keys in.
Quite upsetting even though I was not one directly affected.
I didn't think that The Doors were still around. Just shows you.

Re: Thefts at ICCCR
That is very shocking and dissapointing
I felt very safe and had a knowledge that we were among like minded people with similar car interests. This is bit worrying. I have a habbit of keeping cars locked, things out of sight and so on, so ours were locked up at all times.
None of the cars in the museum were locked, perhaps theyshould have been as a few people were opening doors and one person sat in one of the cars.
I suppose, with 4000 people in attendance, there was always the chance for one to be a rogue!

Re: Thefts at ICCCR
That is despicable!! Absolutely evil behaviour... Not just the parts but how could people stoop so low as to steal people's personal effects...
I must admit that I wasn't totally comfortable at the ICCCR with my camera kit on me. Changing lenses involved kneeling down and opening up the camera bag exposing my kit. Any other rally would be fine, however the foreign element with the ICCCR and people speaking different languages is for me slightly off putting. Having a bunch of people behind you speaking a foreign language and not having a clue what they're saying whilst changing your camera... Hence I kept the same lens on for most of the time...
However on the contrary the majority are really lovely people! Enjoyed chatting to an english-speaking Switzerland XM V6 owner along with Robert, Colin and Kev.

Re: Thefts at ICCCR
It's a truly despicable act, especially at a rally like this. Ive been to a few over the years, mainly 2cvGB ones, and never felt the sllightest bit unsafe. Such a shame, and i hope the stolen goods are recovered, and the perpetrator is given a good hiding. Sorry,I did of course mean I hope he is caught by the police and brought to justice.Citroening wrote:That is despicable!! Absolutely evil behaviour... I do have to say I was not too impressed with your wording about foreigners... What with being married to one, having loads of foreign friends and family. I often speak Spanish or Portuguese myself to people, doesn't mean I'm going to rob those that don't understand me...

Re: Thefts at ICCCR
Apologies Mike if it came across that way as it most certainly wasnt intended - I too have some friends that speak different languages however in that case English is also spoken. Just that it was slightly off putting when changing a lens when a group of four or five walked up behind me and were talking in a language I didn't know. Not saying they were thieves or anything of the sort, however you just never know - as demonstrated by the thefts outlined above (which on contray could have very easily been carried out by residents of England of course).

Spoke to my brother in-law Chief Constable about thefts and he reckons British ones that did it, all planned by watching around whole weekend. Also says they would not have bought a ticket for weekend.

Has anything come to light with these thefts - suppose they're long gone...
However this shouldn't mar an otherwise great event.
That'd be a terrible shame if that was true - potentially could be a fellow CCC, or even FCF Member (although I very much doubt it!)Diabolical wrote:Spoke to my brother in-law Chief Constable about thefts and he reckons British ones that did it, all planned by watching around whole weekend. No, I don't buy that. I've been to enough rallies with both CCC and FCF in attendance and never once has anything gone walkies to my knowledge...Citroening wrote: That'd be a terrible shame if that was true - potentially could be a fellow CCC, or even FCF Member (although I very much doubt it!)
FCF members I'd trust to the ends of the earth.
