I asked for these well over a year ago, I've just looked again and surprise surprise they're still not available. Never mind they are offering a special 5 day price of £80, bargainjacksun1987 wrote:Do you have to go for 5 days. Can you come down for a day. How much does it cost for a day entery fee

Well I won't be going then. Why would anyone want to spend 5 days in Harrogate?! It's not just the monetary cost of a 5 day ticket I don't want. To use it for all 5 days, I'd also have to take 2 days holiday from work. Much as I like Citroens, I have better things to do with my holiday time. If the one day tickets had been available from the start, maybe I'd have bought one and gone. As they are still not, and I have a life to organise, then I won't be going.DickieG wrote:I asked for these well over a year ago, I've just looked again and surprise surprise they're still not available. This is typical of the "we know best, you shall do as we want you to do" attitude from many car clubs and those who organise events for them. This is why I am no longer a member of any and don't often attend rallies or events.

Re: International Citroën Car Clubs Rally 2012
To be fair, the original dates and venue would have been more suitable for British visitors (definitely for myself and Danielle) to have made a holiday of it, we were planning on renting a holiday home with family and a couple of other forum members, going up in convoy and making the most of the area.
Unfortunately CCC got messed around with the venue where it was sold, so they had to find another venue and unfortunately picked Harrogate and had to settle for less accommodating dates.
Consequently I cancelled my ticket and got a refund (after chasing them for it as the information I gave them wasn't actually what they wanted and they didn't bother coming back to tell me that).
Also remember that many attendees will be coming from abroad so making it a 6 day event is more viable.
Day tickets will be available from the 1st July.

Re: International Citroën Car Clubs Rally 2012
I have no issue with it being a 6 day event or a 60 day event. What I do have an issue with is them not bothering to sell day tickets until a month before the event. Some of us have other aspects of our life to organise too. Why sell them so late? I also have an issue with it being in Harrogate, and I speak as Northerner who quite likes the place actually...Xac wrote: Also remember that many attendees will be coming from abroad so making it a 6 day event is more viable.

Couldn't agree MORE mike, They are now anouncing day tickets available from 1st Of July, but looking at the Car Stats, at 320 DS, 32 XM's, 20 Xantia, 23 AMI (For sarah), 61 CX's, Im quite happy with two days!!
If thats 20 quid then that is! I still dont think 5 whole days is needed, some of us do still need to work soon after.
More XM then Xantias!! I like it..

Yeah goodness knows why they're holding day tickets back until the last minute.Activa_Mike wrote:I have no issue with it being a 6 day event or a 60 day event. They're not even giving people the informed choice of sticking with the full ticket or buying several day tickets as when the day tickets are available the refund on the full ticket isn't.

Well they were saying on their site that if you were planning on going for 3 days then the £50 full ticket with original discount worked out better, suggesting maybe £20 a day or a few quid less.
If it is that much then I think I'll give it a miss.

Re: International Citroën Car Clubs Rally 2012
I dont understand the grumbling over the £82 per ticket thing (infact I think its now £100?!) as there was a long time period to be able to buy the week tickets for £50 per car and driver, plus £10 extra for a passenger and every car after the first comes free with its driver if from the same address. Seemed quite fair to me and thats when I got our tickets.
I can see why the tickets were cheaper to begin with and why day tickets are being sold last. So that they can get a quicker indication of the number of visitors and so plan accordingly. Most day visitors probably will buy their tickets closer to the time or een on site anyway. No doubt the cheaper tickets to begin with were an incentive for people to buy early and so get some cash flow going for the event to start planning.
I had another tour around the site on Saturday and its a great location with excellent facilities and its just fitting for this type of use. With various buildings dotted around the site, huge under cover areas for traders and specialist cars, masses of parking, roads on the site to be able to drive through the event, lots of camping areas etc. Its ideal, its not as central as it could have been but its an ideal site, and for one week its perfectly doable for most people to get there.
Ill be there the whole week as we have two cars on display and im taking the 2cv to bumble about in too. We are also volunteering for some roles to help the week along. Im looking forward to it.

So, you think I should have pre-booked and paid over £100, just for the privilege of going for one day with a couple of mates, because they haven't had the courtesy to sell day tickets on sale yet?
Like I said, some of us can't /don't want to take 4 or 5 days annual leave - and working shifts that includes weekends, I would have to take 5 days to get 5 days there - for it as we have families and other things to do with that leave.
I and many others would have pre-booked daily tickets long ago if they were on sale, so your comment about being able to calculate visitor numbers and get funds doesn't add up at all. Richard, Zac, Jim and I (And 3 friends) would have maybe bought them. That's 7 from the FCF for a start.. how many other visitors have they lost?

Re: International Citroën Car Clubs Rally 2012
Whilst £50 or £80 may be reasonable if you are camping for the week, what about those people who cannot stand camping or want to/are only attend for one day? For those people £80 is a rip off, pure and simple.Citroenmad wrote:I dont understand the grumbling over the £82 per ticket thing (infact I think its now £100?!) as there was a long time period to be able to buy the week tickets for £50 per car and driver, plus £10 extra for a passenger and every car after the first comes free with its driver if from the same address. Chris whilst you have other family members able to take advantage of the additional family members discount (which brings the total price down to a reasonable amount) I cannot think of many people in your situation, I certainly couldn't get any of my family to go to this even if I paid them £100 each!
How many people take more than one car to a show, what's that all about?
Don't even get me started on holding at the same time as the Olympics, comments on the CCC forum complimenting the organisers on getting a "good discount" for holding it then begger belief, even my dog could have negotiated that deal. The showground owners must be rubbing their hands with glee and never have thought that would be able to sell those dates even a £1 for the week. How short sighted are the organisers on that issue?
Mike's earlier comment really does sum this farce up for me, the organiser's clearly believe that everyone else would/can go for the whole week and enjoys camping personally I would sooner stick pins in my eyes than suffer that barbaric practice.
One of several reasons why I recently cancelled my membership of the CCC.Activa_Mike wrote:This is typical of the "we know best, you shall do as we want you to do" attitude from many car clubs and those who organise events for them. I really hate camping! I have looked into places nearby to stay but most seem booked up. Its only 70 miles from me thought so I can see me darting home some nights. Other than that, ill be camping
