That's Sylv and Steve admiring the winning ZX 'Best in class'.Citroenmad wrote:Ah, nearly Paul, I think Steve is stood behind the blue modified XMcitroenxm wrote:spotted you.. behind wills boot gas strut.. talking to jim??? is it??
She was mightily upset that she had wasted fuel and entry fee to go down to Burghley when she could have come down with me and for ZX not to be 'accepted' simply because it hasn't got hydraulics.
A few people were very interested in it which made her day tolerable.

I don't think the ZX has much of a following in the way that the Xantias, XMs etc do have. Perhaps it is the suspension and the comfort they offer is a big draw for people who like them.
Though ZXs are great little cars and do ride very nicely for a normally suspended car while being good to drive too. Ive aways liked them and yours looks a very tidy example

Keep it in that condition it should do well! Least it was exceptionally tidy! My Xantia would only win prize for worst condition, and least well kept (On the body and trim that is)...Rhothgar wrote:That's Sylv and Steve admiring the winning ZX 'Best in class'.Citroenmad wrote:Ah, nearly Paul, I think Steve is stood behind the blue modified XMcitroenxm wrote:spotted you.. behind wills boot gas strut.. talking to jim??? is it??

The ZX tends to get over looked as its assumed just a better riding 306.. The ZX has passive rear steer, and is a better all round car.. The other special in yours is shes got the Turbo D engine, most ZX's have either 1.4i petrols, or N/a 1.9d engines. So that also makes it special. I actually like the "Fatter" bumpers, and the grill that was added to the plain bonnet..

Didn't realise it was a TD, quite rare actually. I spotted one the other day and thought the same, I do see a good few ZXs around here. I also pefer the deeper bumpers but I do like the early Aura spec level and looks. There is a very nice 1.6 auto Aura in the CCC, I think its around 94 or 95 but its like brand new. Looks great in bright red.
The ZX is a much better looking car than the Xsara and also the 306, which Ive never really liked the shape of.

No ZX prize at an X rally?! I guess the AX was left out too. Might be worth a mention ready for something to be done for next years X rally. It's a shame that these things appear to be biased to the bigger cars really.

Re: THE X RALLY - 15th April 2012.
Just caught up with this thread...
Unfortunately there isn't a huge presence of ZXs in the CCC (or surrounding forums etc) so when organising the trophies and rosettes we had to take this into account. It's not just the ZXs, there's AXs, Saxos, Xsaras, Xsara Picassos and also Axels with X's in the names. We knew that unfortunately very few, if any, of these cars would be present so there would be nobody to "win" the Best of each. Thus, on the original advert it says that there will be prizes for best BX, CX, XM and Xantia.
Hopefully in years to come the ZXs et al will be more represented at events...

Apologies that Sylv and her ZX didn't feel accepted Roger however of course they were! As explained above it wouldn't have been practical to organise awards for the less well represented X Models. The awards weren't bought from the entry fee - all of the £5 went directly to Burghley House as this is what they charge for parking - the trophies and awards were kindly sponsored by dad with his website address on the trophies to show this.Rhothgar wrote:She was mightily upset that she had wasted fuel and entry fee to go down to Burghley when she could have come down with me and for ZX not to be 'accepted' simply because it hasn't got hydraulics.

I am sure SYlv will now feel comforted at the responses.red_dwarfers wrote:No ZX prize at an X rally?! I guess the AX was left out too. Might be worth a mention ready for something to be done for next years X rally. It's a shame that these things appear to be biased to the bigger cars really.
Severn-Trent Water have been repairing a leak outside our house for the last couple of days and Sylv admitted today that she clouted her front bumper on next door's wall trying to avoid the pedestrian barriers. It's gouged her bumper and scratched it really badly.
Next time, she comes to a rally in her car, if she does, I will make sure we valet it fully.
She's having dent doctor chap out in Summer and that front bumper will have to be resprayed to bring it back up to scratch. No pun intended!

Meant to say also that it was a missed opportunity not to have the A to Z of Citroens on the flyer for the X rally instead of BX to XM and CX to Xantia!
Saxo owners could still be excluded on that basis. No fully fledged boy racer would want an X as a suffix to their car badge!!

Re: THE X RALLY - 15th April 2012.
I don't quite understand what the problem is. It's an excuse for a gathering of Citroens. X is a convenient element as so many models featured the letter, but it didn't stop the C4's, C6's, Visa, GS, Ami, C3 Picasso or DS turning up - and that was great.Rhothgar wrote:Meant to say also that it was a missed opportunity not to have the A to Z of Citroëns on the flyer for the X rally instead of BX to XM and CX to Xantia!

A prize for everything with an X in it's name? Really? Let's see... AX's present: 0, Xsaras present: 0, ZX's: 1 (so by default that wins lol!), Saxos: 0... even GSX's present: 0, whereas... BX's: 26, XM's: 13 etc. etc.
When AX, Saxo, Xsara owners - or indeed ZX owners start turning up in greater numbers then it would be absolutely correct to include them in awards if given. Personally I think the ZX is an underrated car (I've had two, turning up one year at a CCC National in a black TD Volcane, which is missed) and the AX is overdue for recognition so would welcome more Citroen models getting involved. Even the Synergie (had one) which is fondly remembered.
