CCC East Midlands Group Meet - Stondon Museum - 25th March.
I thought that I would put this up nice and early for you guys as this is our group's first outing of the year.
As the title says, we plan to visit Stondon Motor Museum on the 25th of March and this is at Henlow, Bedfordshire, SG16 6JN.
This is an excellent museum with in excess of 400 vehicles on display including some Citroens such as CXs, SMs, DS Decap, 2CV and also a relative of the Peugeot 104. This isn't the usual run of the mill museum because all of the cars aren't in pristine/museum piece condition. Bring your chequebook too, as a fair few cars are normally for sale...
You can either meet us there or there are plans in place where people are going to meet up (for example at Huntingdon Services) and convoy down to Stondon – this will be organised nearer the time. You can see more info about the museum on their website - http://www.motor-museum.co.uk" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
Further details such as times and the convoys will be announced nearer the time...
Who's up for it then?

You may like to try The Crown pub at Shillington for a decent lunch, just a couple of miles away in the next village.
I've been there many times & always at the same time as visiting Stondon. Most recently In Nov 2011.
It's best to book though or arrive early.
I think the Stondon Museum is one of the most charming car museum's ever, as you said don't expect lots of concours shining cars.
The owner is a fascinating chap too - he reputedly owns one of Middleton Motors converted RHD SMs.
If we're lucky he may come along & chat to us on the day of our visit.
Most likely see you all there,
Shaun

Thanks for the info Shaun on the pub as that could be useful - I'll mention it to the others in the group and I'm sure they'll be interested...
It is indeed a most excellent museum that it very interesting - even on a cold and snowy 18th December 2011 when I last visited it was great...

Re: CCC East Midlands Group Meet - Stondon Museum - 25th Mar
Hi all, as promised here are some further details for the Stondon Visit if you plan on coming along next weekend.
The planned meet time at Stondon Motor Museum (Lower Stondon, Henlow, Bedfordshire, SG16 6JN) is 11am.
As mentioned before there is a convoy to Stondon being planned if you're coming from this way, and this is from Huntingdon Brampton Hut Services (Brampton Hut, Great North Road, Cambridgeshire, Huntingdon PE18 4NQ) adjacent to McDonalds Car Park at 10am for 10.15am departure. See here for a Google Maps overview of the area.
Takes about 40 Minutes from Huntingdon to Stondon so time ties in well, and anyone wanting to partake in a McDonalds Breakfast they can!!!
Anyone else up for it?

Remember the clocks go forward Sat night/Sunday morning, so you get one hour less in bed!
Are we still planning to go to the pub for lunch afterwards?
If so, I'll book a table (at least for me & my travel companion), as it can get busy at The Crown.
See you all on Sunday.

A good point that Shaun...
There's no plans at the moment for lunch afterwards, although I'm sure if people want to they can... I seem to remember there being quite a few pubs for food near the museum too incase your suggestion becomes full...

Final bump for this one tomorrow. Weather forecast is excellent and promises to be an excellent day.
Strangely enough could be a good XM turnout too again for the EM Group - I know of at least 4 coming along in convoy from Brampton...
