The 2.2 provides a nice excuse as to why I'll always buy a Petrol!

Cue somebody coming along to tell me how excellent the 2.0 HDi is... :)

It's bloody brilliant Luke 8-) 8-) I know of nobody who doesn't think the same... the 2.0 HDi (DW10) engine is a corker in every way...

Luke, you would have to avoid the 2.0HPi petrol C5s though, they are terrible! 2.016v is not too bad if you really must have a gutless petrol, or a V6 if you require only a little more pace but a better noise, even less economy and a slushbox. I mean, why buy a diesel?

The 2.0HDi is the engine to have, it can be remaped to get 2.2 power and still maintain better economy. Its a very hardy, economical, refined and very well proven engine. Almost certainly one of the better modern diesel engines around. Also, on the 8vs, no FAP filter and the DMF can be removed and replaced with a solid flywheel (not a trouble the Xantia shares). I know if/when my 2.0HDi 16v gives me jip im really going to me missing my old 2.0 8vs. Hopefully it wont as they too are good engines, I just wish they did without the FAP and DMF.

A slush box? Haha! Past owner of 3 C5 V6s here and I can't see why anybody wouldn't!! Especially since the equivalent HDi would have been three times the price! But we won't get into this debate again lol!

Jim - I drive a 407 HDi and was pretty impressed. But I have yet to pilot a 407 V6 :) :) :)

I'm not going to say anything. I have a foot in every camp - diesel, petrol, manual and automatic... Horses for courses. Each has their own merits...
