Exposure to Citroens is dangerous to your health!

Post by Six-cylinder »

My first brush with Citroens was because as I came to driving age my farther had a 1973L GS 1220 Club in metallic green, I did my driving practice on it and then when I passed my test I got to borrow it. My farther continued to have Citroens, several GSs, a Visa, GSA and BXs. I borrowed most of his cars for odd trips but bought too of then from him, the first was a 1976R GS Pallas in 1984 and the second a 1978S GSX2 in 1985. I then worked for a Citroen garage on the sales side and had a 1987 BX 16RS followed by a 1987 CX 20RE Familiale before changing jobs. Working for a Citroen garage gave me the chance to drive lots of different Citroens. Another job change saw me return to Citroen at the end of 1994 and into a company Xantia1.8 LX and in 2 years I got thought 10 Company Xantias and two ZXs! I took in part exchange a lovely low mileage 1988 2CV that had a new chassis under warrantee and bought it for myself. I did not have it long though because a friend wanted to buy it from me. While working at the garage I got to drive my first Traction as we looked after one for a customer who worked aboard and it needed exercising.

I left the motor trade at the end of 1996 and in 2002 I needed an economical run about to use alongside the Range Rover I had and chose a Visa Diesel, as I liked them when I sold them. That worked well for 2 ½ years.
In 2006 an impulsive eBay bid meant I owned a 1983 CX 2.4 I/E Pallas Auto. That started the whole Citroen thing a GS special, D Super (blue), CX 25 Familiale, Visa 10E, CX25 DTR, Visa 17RD, D Super (white), ZX 1.9D Avantage, ZX19D Avantage Auto, ZX TD Aura and Xantia V6 Exclusive followed.

Peugeots are rarer in my life and limited to just three owned, a 205 GRD and two 504 Cabriolets one I currently have.

Renaults are limited too, a beautiful Fuego GTS in 2004 and a lovely 1983 4GTL in 2005.

The current fleet is the Citroen CX 2400 I/E Pallas Auto, Visa 17RD, D Super(white), ZX 1.9TD Aura, and Xantia V6 Exclusive. Peugeot 504 Cabriolet.

Chris

Hi Chris, nice to see you here, I've been past your house quite a number of times and seen your Range Rover parked across the road. That road is an excellent test for any suspension if driven at speed let alone a Citroen, who needs a sphere pressure tester why you live there

That's one of the least bruised undertrays I've seen on a Dee, for a long while.

I recognise your DS - have some photo's of it to show my cousin when I next see her (every ten years or thereabouts).
She is called Geraldine and has a "Gel" number plate on her Pug - we always called her Gel when we were kids.
