removing diesel injectors

Post by bernie »

I having a bit of bother getting the injectors out of my BX Turbo.
I can not find a 27mm socket deep enough, although the one from Halfords nearly made it but not quite.
Any ideas?

I recently bought a socket specifically for diesel injectors (27mm), from my local motor store. It was manufactured by Laser and cost about £7 but worth every penny, try phoning about A1 motor, Wilco, whatever store is closest to you. Happy hunting.

Cheers Gareth.
Did you have your injectors renewed or recon and how much did it cost?

I had the injectors checked for free at my local diesel specialist. I thaught they were the cause of poor running. As it turned out it was the cylinder head, it was cracked. They quoted about £80 for the lot to be reconditioned before I had them checked. What's the problem with your car? Is it just running poorly? Let us know. Cheers

First the car just stopped but I traced the fault to the stop soleniod.
Having got if to go it then started to run on 3 cylinders only.
That's why I wanted to remove the injectors.
I have now managed to buy a socket today.
Removed the injectors and had then checked, all were badly worn.
Bought a recon set for £80 + vat.
Have not fitted them yet it's pouring with rain.

Bernie, sounds like you have found the problem then. Hope everything runs well, once you've fitted the new injectors. Remember to check the fire seals are still there before you refit, and use new sealing washers. Regards
