I've been registered for ages and have posted before, but forgot my password...

I just don't have enough time normally for here as well.

Talking about other cars at the meets.

At the two CXM meets there have been other models anyway, including a DS. I really like the CXM meet as they are very relaxed.

I did notice the XM mob are more prone to jumping into each others cars than the CX team for a ride around.

I blame the pickled eggs...

On a serious note (!) I think that the CX, XM and Xantia Rally will be a great event this year especially as we've now got a revised committee as well.

The question is what CX to bring?!! We'll be intent on camping this year (!) so no Talbot, but I am organising a nice gazebo so pickled eggs can still be enjoyed by those certain egg-fans! :D Danny Hopkins (Practical Classics Editor) is coming along in our S1 Prestige as dad has let him borrow it (he says he's in love with it!).

Might get an XM splash in PC sometime then.

Talking of which, I just found this post on Retrorides...

Buying practical classics magazine experiance
« Thread Started on Mar 29, 2007, 5:32pm »
Went into the shop to buy Practical Classics.

go to shelf, pick up mag, go to counter, place mag on counter. This is where it all goes a bit Royston Vasey.

Him: "I hope there's still one on the shelf" (like he's telling me off!)
Me: "Eh?"
Him: "You've not taken the last one have you?"
Me: (in my head) "I'm not responsible for your stock control I'nm the frikkin customer"
Me: (Outloud) "Erm, no, I don't think so"
Him: "Good, I wanted to read one on my break"
Me: (in my head) "well buy one or keep one behing the counter you dumb fvck"
Me: (outloud) "I think theres one left"
Him: "oh, thats alregith then"
Me: (in my head) WTF is your problem?
Me: (outloud) - nothing.

then he proceeds to give me a critique of each car on the magazne cover, one by one stabbing his greasy finger on the mag and saying "they were awful they were. rotted like anything" then the next "rot boxes, dreadful they were". Next one "never see any of them no more, all rotted away they did"

So by this time I'm ready to yell "just scan the frikkin magazine and take my money to boring, miserable old scrotum faced div head I have better things to do with my life than stand here listening to you droning on incecent rubbish while a queue builds up behind me of people who smell and want to buy lottery tickets or special brew and my brain cells are slowly begining to commit suicide..."

But instead I just stand there listening to the drone of bollox coming out of his gob.

What is with some people?

It's those kinds of half-baked dribbling critiques which drove me completely away from the muscle car scene.

By contrast the Xantia uses SFA fuel, is anonymous and doesn't attract drivel-grade commentary everywhere you stop. It's far nicer for long mileages than many of the so-called muscle cars, too.

...to add to Xac's (very good!) map, the postcode is MK17 0PF and it is situated behind the Shoulder of Mutton Pub (a very sharp turn straight after it), on the cricket field.

...there will of course be appropriate signs placed so people can find it!
