CCC National Rally 2011 - July 16 - 17th. CONFIRMED!
Moderator: RichardW
If you can even make it for a few hours on Sunday that would be great.
Im hoping for a good turn out, remember the next BIG ONE after this is the ICCR!

...just thought I'd pop onto here that I've organised a convoy route for the Saturday (not in the style you're thinking of though - we have to save them for the CXM Rally!)
It will be to a very nice place called the Dolphin which is right by the river in St. Ives and has a Lounge bar that is good for people that want a drink and a chat. There's huge amount of space for parking which is good and the route itself is ~ 20 miles long.

Proper job Franklin.
If I hadn't recently been told of a St. Ives in Cambridgeshire I would have though it a bit of along one one

I have been looking for hotels for hours (as usual its last minute ), I have tried all the usual out of the box hotels (travelodge, inkeepers lodge, etc) but have had no luck finding one close enough with availability.
Does anyone know of any decent ones which offer breakfast and are not too far away?
I have found one which is 24 miles away, though as im planning staying Friday and Saturday nights, closer would be better.

Oliver Cromwell Hotel, High Street, March, Cambridgeshire, PE15 9LH.
It's a very nice place but the prices do reflect that as it's not exactly cheap! Not too far away from the Skylark at about 4 miles so not far to go!
There is another place called Ye Olde Griffin in March that I personally wouldn't go near even though it's had a recent refurb.
Or something a bit further afield is the Elme Hall Hotel, Wisbech - about 10 miles away. Nice place, as you can see from the website.
Personally, I'd stick a tent in the Activa Chris and camp - you can't beat the atmosphere of sitting around into the early hours of the morning and amongst other things, eating pickled eggs!
Although admittedly I don't know if the pickled eggs have to be saved for the CXM though...

Tent found, sleeping bag acquired. Couple of bits to get and I'm set.
Now where is that jar of pickled eggs.....
Quick question, is the campsite actually at the show site itself? Who will be there Saturday evening?

Robert's your man for the pickled eggs! I think he plans to bring pub style AND chip shop style for comparison purposes at the CXM this year - we really push the boat out at these events!
I'm confident in saying that there will be a seperate area on the field for the camping, although I'm sure Tim'll be along to confirm that as he's "Mr Organiser" this year.
I'm there all weekend...

Good to hear!
The Oliver Cromwell is a nice place from what I've heard and has been the choice of residence if family/friends are travelling from long distances and want a hotel - family came over from Canada a few years back and stayed there.
Bit of a tip when trying to find it (I live about...hmm...500 yards away!) is that when approaching keep a look out for the Vets on the right, and then a sharp left immediately opposite it. Link.
Also, if you're looking for somewhere to eat (i.e. didn't eat at rally) then I could 100% recommend "The Hippodrome" that is run by Wetherspoons and not too far from hotel - VERY good price-wise too and good quality.

Looking forward to the weekend even more now, hopefully the Activa will do me proud again and take the 400 mile trip in its stride
