1070 miles in 23 hours, solo with a load and on a mixture of backroads, freeways and B roads. Weather between fair and diabolical. Naturally, in the Xantia. :)

Am I winning so far?

Hmm, not wishing to be a killjoy here but it might be for the better that comments about how far/long people have driven in a day be best kept to themselves bearing in mind the fatigue/safety issue, any distance exceeding 800 miles or 16 hours must raise serious question around safety.

Yes, it (fatigue) does sneak up on you.

I took two decent breaks in my mammoth drive - the second prompted by discovery that when alighting from the car to answer a call of nature, I could barely stand. The subsequent four hour nap passed like a blink.

Me too. Frequent breaks, when required, generally every 2 hours or thereabouts for 15 minutes. Some extended to 45 minutes and one extended to around hours through natural exhaustion. Felt totally alive with zing after each break.

You win!

CitroJim, Dave the rave and ickle Rave (not so ickle now though!) were there when Danielle and I arrived.
Rothgar and his better half arrived in their TD mid afternoon and I started the BBQ.
Citronut and his better half arrived near the end just before I left.
The weather was beautiful for most of the day, it became overcast late afternoon with a few drops of rain, and I mean only a few drops, but Jim and his magic umbrella pushed the clouds around us and not long after things brightened up again.

Here's some photos

Glad to hear that it's going well weather-wise - it's been stunning here today bar a couple of clouds.

Here's some more pictures from Citroenet - Link.

We're impressed (and glad) he managed two!
Although what the heck have you been feeding him? He's shot up about 3 feet since we last saw him, I'm sure!

All good! Food was a pleasant surprise too. Weather was superb.

I reckon Jim's a secret Morris Dancer (hope he's laughing at that comment)

He must have been warding off the bad weather with his fellow dancers around the corner. Keep your knees up, Jim!

Think I need a CX 25 Limousine or a metallic blue SM for £20k. Can anyone spare any loose change?

Pleased to see that it is all going well.
That blue SM is magnificent.

This amused me - shades of Toad of Toad Hall

Good to see pictures of the three surviving UK Xantias, and pleased to hear your inclement weather held off.

Nah, It's not that, it's my magic orange IKEA brolly 8-)

It was a jolly good day yesterday :D Your bergers were absolutely excellent Xac and Danielle :D :D And so were the fish and chips from the mobile chippy!!! The best I've tasted for a good while now; it's amazing what good can come from the back of an old Tranny van 8-)

I'll soon be setting off with Chris570 in tow but not literally I hope

Glad to hear that its been (well, still is) a good weekend.

The amount of rain we've had going up and back down the M5 was epic, no wonder the other side of the country is having a minor drought.

I don't know how ickle rave could possibly grow 3 feet, he was taller than me last year  I suppose this is the point where I should recite a sunroof related jape.

Dave, is that your Xant? It's been a while since I've seen that one!

Lol, I do worry he is going to need drastic measures to stop him growing further!
He did find the car more comfortable with the Sunroof open!

Not my xantia Kev, I was lexiating it for Rhothgar, I was in the Cx this time.
Shame the weather was not so good today! Even Jims umbrella did not help the situation!
