Hi from Durham

A forum for new members to introduce themselves to the rabble already onboard. Not compulsory!
Tell us a little about yourself, lie if you have to but keep it to just an introduction, not a car discussion.

I have a 205 GTI 1.9, and a Renault Clio so will be interested in some of the advise from other members.

Thanks

Welcome to the FCF Mick.

I think it may have been Croft that I used to go to with my dad to watch drag racing, when Art Arfons, Don Garlits and another (who's name I can't bring to mind at the moment) were the chief attractions. Around 1958 IIRC.

I used to go with a friend to watch him do rally cross at Croft, ive also been to watch the touring cars there a few times and we got my dad a driving experience there. But ive not actually been round it myself.

Fancy putting your C5 through its paces Steve?!

I dont think there are many Activas in this area, but im sure they would be well suited.

Hello chaps,

Thanks for the warm welcome.

We tend to cater for road cars rather than race cars.

Its about enjoying what the car can do without worrying about Police or other road users coming the other way than attempting track record pace.

Croft have just lost a lot of money after loosing a court case relating to noise levels (fancy buying a house next to a racetrack then complaining about the noise :x ) and we have some really good deals to try and help increase their revenue.

Its "new" for 2011, so its really up to you guys.

Welcome Mick! :wave2:
...just out of interest, you're last name isn't Laven is it? Just that a chap I know was looking to get in contact with a Mike or Mick Laven from Durham.

Cheers.

No probs...only asked as he was into small fast French cars and in the Durham area - something to do with a Visa GTi, IIRC.

There was talk of a track event for the FCF, but it didn't materialise, I wonder if anyone would be up for a meeting at Croft?

We can do a full day, with various bits and pieces as an add on's for around £125 per car.

You get enough people interested (just organised one for MX5's with 30 +) and let us do the rest.

The price doesnt vary depending on how many cars attend then?

Prices are for quiet days (88Db noise limit each car), based on 30 vehicles.
We can get a discount if fewer vehicles attend (down to around 25) so that we can still do £125 per car.
We also have regulars who will make up numbers if a single group are short, or we can charge a little more for exclusive group use.
We also add value in other ways, free prize draws and lunchtime entertainment are just a couple of examples.

Haven't been on here for a while.

Got an offer I couldn't refuse for the 205 and the daughters boyfriend has bought the Clio ................ so nothing French in my garage at the moment.......... trying to think of something different poss a BX GTi but struggling to find a decent base.

Anyway, we have a date for a "road car" Trackday at Croft which will be held on the 14th August 2011 which I understand is a Sunday.

The cost will be £125 per vehicle.

The noise limit will be 88Db.

Other Marques will be offered places and it is on a first come first served basis, express an interest asap and I'll let you know how to reserve your place by paying a small deposit of £25.

I know this may seem a long way off, but we are not a business we're just trying to help make Croft Circuit viable again and the next available weekend date is the 14th.

I hope to see some of you there, if anyones local and they want to see what goes on we have one organised for MX5's on 30th April, if anyone wants to come along let me know and I'll make the arrangements.

Thanks guys

Mick
