Hi ...Could anyone please tell me where the windscreen washer PUMP Motor is on the zx estate.........

Yes I could.. It is on the side of the reservoir, the reservoir is situated under the splash guard of the front right hand wheelarch, you have to remove the guard to gain access to the reservoir/pump. There are a couple of scews holding the reservoir in place, you have to pull out the fillerneck from the top of the reservoir(under the bonnet at the back),undo the screws and lower the reservoir bottle, disconnect the electrical connector and pull off the washer feed pipes, note which pipe goes where. They feed front and back from the same pump. (On certain models) If it has two pumps have an assistant action the pump while you see which one motors. Change the applicable pump!! I have assumed you wanted to know where it was because its not working too well, and you want to change it. I need to do the same to my ZX Td. Good luck<img src=icon_smile.gif border=0 align=middle>

I have dealt with two zx's with poor washer performance. If it is not working at all first check the stalk switch. If performace is poor make sure the non-return valves are not blocked. take them out and clean them, also test how the motor pumps with no resistance. Some hot water softens the pipes to remove the valves. To get at the washer motors is not easy.

Yes I have to agree, having talked myself through the job to help whammi out, I decided to have a go at mine today. Fiddly is a word I would use, because anything else would probably have me barred from the forum!! The pumps wiring connector is a particular problem, you definately have to loosen the two screws,(yes, they are screws just because they have a 10mm hex head doesn't make them a bolt.)so you can manouver the reservoir bottle sufficiently to gain access to the pump, to pull it out of the bottle. You will need to undo the corner three screws for the scuttle plate at the rear of the bulkhead, so you can both remove and replace the filler neck. Just gently pull that corner of the scuttle away so you can gain access. The scuttle plate fits in under the windscreen seal, so take care when refitting it. Its dirty fiddly and only took me about 3/4 Hour. The jets now clear the length of the car, so I adjusted them and they are fine now. Do as Volcane305 suggested first, it could save you a lot of hassle. Regards

I've just bought a Xantia 1.9TD SX, (1993 mod).
Got a few minor problems to sort out. Wondered if you can tell me where the 'non-return valves' are located as have an intermittent problem with normal then reduced flow from the screen washer jets. Have already taken what I think is the pump from lower inside facing part of the reservoir, (without removing bumper) but the fault has not been fixed.
The washer pipes seem to be well hard to access,(i.e., to ascertain any blockage), any suggestions would be welcomed.[?]
