Hello CX drivers!
I am putting my CX T2 Safari 1988 (ex Austria -LHD) back on the road soon after 6 years laid up.
I am looking for supply of (ideally new) 1. Engine cam belt tensioner (2 off) & injection pump belt tensioner (1 off) & 2. Rocker cover gasket (2 off).
I tried GSF (old Andyspares) in Reading. They had 1 inj. pump tensioner only, no gaskets.
Can anyone help me with stock?
I may have some spares available for exchange or sale for the Turbo 2 CX (engine & vehicle) if anyone is interested in getting in touch.
I live in Stroud in Gloucestershire.
PS -Is there a specific CX club in the UK? If yes, I shall join. I was a member of the Citroen Car Club some time back.
Regards, Alan Jones (fuel injection devt. engineer)

Hi Alan;
which engine are you looking for service items on the 2.5TD?
The Citroen forums tend to have different models owned by the same faces
so their names will crop up again and again - the Cx specific forums are:
http://autos.groups.yahoo.com/group/CX-L/
http://www.cxclub.co.uk/forum/
I'd be very interested in hearing more about what GTi T2 spares you have
as I love these cars and have several!!
you can use personal messaging through this forum or mail me at:

Hi Andy,
I have the last variety of 2,5 litre turbo diesel (manuf. 1988) -120 hp - 25/669 variety I believe.
I need one diesel fuel injection pump timing belt tensioner and a couple of main cambelt tensioners, also two rocker cover gaskets. I have a couple of cylinder head assemblies spare (will keep one but I can swop the other for other spares possibly, and probably other spares available, as I scrapped two cars in Austria and kept all the good bits).
Not sure if you have a turbo diesel CX or know of key guys in the south west/Wales who run these but I'll keep in touch with anyone who does and may be able to help them with some spares. I intend to run my Safari as long as I can and know the car pretty well from working on it for some years now. I am an engineer and do most of my own servicing on the cars we use. I love this car as it is a superb load carrier, frugal on fuel and, although a plumber's nightmare, has all those wonderful Citroen features.
Regards, Alan

Hi Alan and welcome
I'd heartily recommend rejoining the CCC ans there is a thriving CX community there. Also joining the CCC gives access to the CCC forum.
Sorry, I sound like a CCC press gang here

Welcome, Alan!:welc:
As Jim has already said, I'd definitely recommend joining the CCC again! Here's the website link for you if you need it.
There's many CX enthusiasts on there (and coincidently there's some on here too!). There's also the CXM Rally at the beginning of September too...

Some more details on that GTi T2 would be good - I take it that it's not savable?Turbo 2 CX (engine & vehicle

Franklin - I get the feeling we're both jumping the gun talking about GTi petrol
Turbo 2's though Alan is on a different wavelength referring to turbo 2 DTR's!!
I truly believe the heads on the DTR are the main Achilles heel of the DTR
engine and not the infamous 'porous block'. Anyhow.
I must confess, whilst I have a few DTR's I've never had the need to renew
the belt tensioners!? The rocker cover gasket should be easier to source
among CX head sets even looking out on ebay.
I could personally really do with a rad and an 80amp alternator as the basket
case car I got specifically for these spares was stolen from outside my barn
(no doubt to weigh in for scrap) before I even had a chance to fully check out
if it was a rotten as I thought - it had a very good set of safari bodypanels
though.

I think you're right Andrew - but when I saw this:
Can you clarify this please Alan..I'm confused!
Rumours had it that it was used for a banger race and then scrapped!
I knew that Alan was talking about a diesel as there wasn't a petrol turbo Safari, but then Alan said:CX T2 Safari 1988
So then we both, possibly, thought that it was the petrol Turbo.Turbo 2 CX

Know how you feel Andrew...dad had a series 1 GTi Turbo stolen from outside the paintshop!I could personally really do with a rad and an 80amp alternator as the basket

That is truly appalling - GTi s1 t1's aren't something you can easily replaceCitroening wrote:dad had a series 1 GTi Turbo stolen from outside the paintshop! Rumours had it that it was used for a banger race and then scrapped!
and are the epitome of the Cx art! That's really spoiled my day. I cannot say,
maybe weighing in for scrap hurts less than thinking about it banger racing.
Both are hideous but in differing levels of magnitude.

I couldn't believe it either!
The even annoying thing is that it was going to be put into the workshop for some welding at the end of that week, and then people (a very kind word in this situation! ) steal it and rag it around a banger track.
Why oh why use a CX and, as you say, the series 1 GTi Turbo.
Makes me really angry!
