More fans....

I've got a 1996 Xantia TD with aircon, and have only ever witnessed 1 of the 2 fans running. Whats the score with the fans?

The first fan cuts in when the temperature reaches 90 Centigrade. The second one starts up at 101 C. Maybe you don't run hot enough to start the second one. But don't rule out a faulty switch.

98 Xantia 2.0 16v. That's odd, both my fans work all the time when aircon switched on. Any comments?

Where are the thermostat(s) for the fans, and how do I check if the fans or thermostat are working?

Looks like every Xantia does as it pleases with it's fans then. The one on the right (as you stand at the front of the car) comes on with my air conditioning, the other one only comes on when it feels like it. If you discnnect the Bitron sensor when the engine is hot, the fan on the left goes like the bunnies. If I start to overheat and switch the internal heating fan up to max, the radiator fan stops. 1996 1.9TD Estate. All ideas gratefully discussed.

first off the fans should be on all the time when a/c is on.if you disconnect the temp sensor for the bitron unit the fans go bannanas to stop the car overheating because it thinks there is a fault with the sensor.
