AX pulling left on hard braking

Post by Xantia »

All,
Ax.. new pads, new discs and calipers sliding freely on pins(ATE calipers).Still pulling to left on hard braking, although not really noticable.Only found out when MOT man said efficiency was way down on offside axle.I am going to change the flexible pipes as they are starting to crack.Any suggestions anyone.Does the master cylinder split diagonally on the non GT models and is this the culprit.I need to know 'cause where I live it is £16 for an mot retest. And the money is mounting up,(so far,1 test + 1 retest coming up).
Regards
Xantia.

Hi Xantia - What brakes have you on the rear? When my 205 pulled to the left the trouble was down to a slight leak on the rear wheel cylinder. I wouldn't have thought because one circuit of the system was faulty, it would have caused your problem since each circuit works on diagonal wheels.

Hi George - Thanks for your E-mail. Presumably you changed the rear linings after replacing the wheel cylinder? Did the MOT tester tell you which wheel had the reduced efficiency? And was it on the handbrake or footbrake?
