Has anyone a cd player for sale that fits a Xantia dash and works with the steering wheel controls? Or alternatively can anyone suggest a model which will do the job?
Cheers all

Bit pointless anyone quoting model No's, might not be in your price range or to your required spec.
Best to go along to your local car radio centre and tell them your requirement's, which basicly is a cd player and a steering wheel smart lead for the Xantia.
I'd also go for one that can play mp3 files, if you have a burner, and if not get one, you can cram load's of music on a cd in mp3 format.

Simon,
Try http://www.incar-discount.co.uk/acatalo ... rs_40.html
The cheapest unit is about £210 that is MP3 and steering wheel compatible. The only problem is that the price of the required adapter module is £70.
Not sure about Sony though as I don't like them.

Iv'e got Sony 10 disc autochanger's in both the ZX and Xantia, absolutely faultless, the one in the ZX is getting on for 10 years old, replaced a couple of tacktile switches on the head unit, still perfect operation.
Who's got a better reputation for quality sound reproduction than Alpine, but how many know that Alpine's early success was founded on Sony's cassette tape transport's, long before in car cd's hit the scene.
Nowt wrong wi Sony at all,......... well..... price maybe (

Hi All,
Thanks for the advice, especially about MP3. My Xantia 1.9D LX only has a two speaker, radio cassette (with a "tone" control) which is to be kind, a bit naff. So, as you can appreciate, whatever I replace it with will be a significant and worthwhile upgrade.
The car also has rock hard suspension which I hope will be cured when it gets 4 new spheres (£150 + VAT, fitted) at the end of the month. The stereo might have to wait until next month but if anyone hears of one for sale please let me know either by email (simon@hornby.net) of through this message board
Cheers

Ah bummer, the garage is in Hertfordshire, but if you ever on a trip down this way and can do without the car for a couple of hours the garage is in Harpenden, place called Citronics, I used them and they were great, £19+vat per sphere and £25+vat labour charge per axle, ie £126+vat for 4 spheres on two axles. Certainly not worth the journey to save £30 this time. Just need someone to suggest how to stop my 1994 Xantia 2.0i auto from using too much fuel, seems to be averaging 25-28mpg which is a bit stingy.

Thanks for the tip.
I know I'm getting off the thread of my original posting but actually I'm having the spheres completely replaced as there's absolutely no movement in one and very little in the rest. Once it's done it's done and I get forget about them for a good few miles.
BTW my cars done 115,000 miles and returns a consistent 53mpg. Ok, it's a non-turbo diesel so I'm not going to set the street alight, but look at the figures. I commute 30 miles each way to work and would simply not be able to afford a petrol car. Depending on your mileage it might be viable for you to get an hdi, near petrol performance and diesel economy.
Cheers
