I bridged mine by carefully wrapping a piece of wire (multi strand stuff) around the terminals in the male section of the plug attached to the LP/HP switch and then just plugging the socket in. Another option is just a piece if single strand bent to "U" shape and pushed down the sockets in the connecting plug.

Thanks Alans for the reply,

Sorry for sounding a bit stupid when you refer to the connection plug, :?

Are you talking about the the 4 pin plug at the reciever drier or the 2 pin plug at the compressor. :?:

Cheers

Hi Kenny,

Alan is talking LP/HP switch, so that’s got to be the 4-pin sensor switch on the dryer bottle.
Mine has 5 wires, but only 4 pins on the switch, so I hope that one wire does nothing.
The compressor clutch can be checked for its loud click-on when switching the aircon on, but it releases totally silently. :-$
If there’s enough daylight under the car, you can also see the clutch engaging by looking down from the top.

Regards,
Terry.

Thanks again to Terry and Alan S,

Alan , you bridged your pressure switch by wrapping a wire around the male terminals , I assume all 4 terminals.

As I've got an old clutch cable soldered together to plug into connection at compresor.

Cheers

HI Kenny

You only need to remove the brown plug at the pressure switch into the drier. Bridge the thicker wires together by a length of wire from the pins in the connector to each other. Since you haev unplugged the connector, the fans won't run. A second way to check to to push a couple of sewing pins through each of the thicker wires whilst tthe plug is still connected and then link these together using the loop of wire. A short test like this will do no damage

Hi JohnM52,Terry and John S,

Did as posted and nothing no click from clutch and no movement. :!:

Are there any voltages which can be measured and what pins do the flow through.

I believe the clutch is faulty.Do have another compressor in garage which looks very clean :!:

Cheers

OK, now we've reached this stage, I'd be inclined to double check the result by taking a wire to the positive connector on the compressor and tapping it on the + pole of the battery and seeing if it clicks or not. This then eliminates the possibility of any internal breaks in the wiring.
It is not beyond the realms of possibility that an internal break could even exist between the + connection at the compressor and the actual clutch coil, so if it's possible to inspect that part of the wiring (what bit you can see depending on compressor brand) before resorting to removing it from the car. Usually, if unbolted, they will drop down whilst still connected to the hoses to give some sort of access without having to resort to evacuating the gas.

Thanks alan s,

Will try same ,but it is not as important now.
Did the old remove temp sensor trick and BOTH fans run on full speed with ignition on and when switched off they went to half speed and then clicked off (relay cutting in via briton)

I think I will leave it mean time until after my hols or I maybe lucky and find someone where I'm going it knows the problem.

Cheers

Hi Kenny,

Two maps here, recent findings, edited on 10th August.
Have a nice holiday in France, and the French will find it very amusing if you refer to the car as ‘la bagnole’ or ‘la titine’.
Have a safe trip.

Hi Terry,Alan and JohnM52,

For your info the temp was so high in the Var and driving down that my fans were almost on constantly and working  ,either at low speed or high speed (briton working). 8)
Therefore I will pursue the wiring suggestion from you Alan and see what happens. :)
As an aside I've been trying to remove clutch from compressor and it is not that simple. It would appear there is a remove tool to extract clutch from compressor . As can be seen from Citroen part site clucth is held on by a woodruff type key which is pain to remove. I've tried to adapt my 3 legged pullers without success. :(
So, has anybody out there ever taken one of these apart  :?:

Cheers
