If it's a diesel Xantia you've got, you'll find the temperature sender unit near to the oil dip stick and the speedo drive on the transmission, just above the drive shaft.

Hi Ian, temp gauge sensor is on the thermostat housing, can be either on the left or right front corner of it dependant on wether or not aircon is fitted, if no aircon sender is on the right, should be blue connector.
Rev counter (TDC) sensor is in the bell housing flange on the block, sensor faces the flywheel, later models have a lift sensor on one of the injectors.
Speedo transducer or cable, right hand side of diff housing as John says.
Good luck

OK, I've found the speedo and rev counter sensors - no probs there.
As for the Temp Gauge, I have 2 things on the thermo housing, one left, one right and they're both blue. The left one has 2 wires, the right one has one. I don't have aircon.
If it helps, it's a 94 1.9TD hatch.
On another note, is there any easy access points through the bulk head? I need to run a 4awg cable from the battery to the boot.
Once again, many thanks for the help.

The other sensor is for a temperature warning light.
Don't know about cabin access grommit, bound to be something somewhere, there is one into the boot from underneath for trailer wiring, you could use this and go from front to rear under the car, sounds like a big amp going in.
Good luck

If your Xantia is anything like my '98 version, there is a plastic cover running the length of the car on the o/s. I ran several cables from a fuse box near to the battery down to various relays in the estate/boot for caravan fridge and battery. I put three wires inside a plastic tube then put it all under the plastic cover. The wires enter the boot through a grommit in the floor.

Ok, here we are again. I have found the cause of my missing instruments, fuse F12 has blown and keeps blowing instantly. If I replace it when the engine is warm, I can see the temp gauge move just before it blows.
Has anyone had any experience of this before?
Many thanks
Ian

See what other circuit's are protected by this fuse, isolate them one at a time untill the fuse stops blowing.

Hi there,
Re temperature gauge sender 1994 Xantia 1.9TD. I have just ordered a sender for the temp gauge, and the Citroen people tell its the GREEN one at the rear of the thermostat housing. Can anyone confirm that this is the correct sender unit please ?
