You represent and warrant that you own or otherwise control the applicable rights to the content that you post or upload; and that you will indemnify us for all claims resulting from such content you supply. More specifically, you are entirely responsible for each individual item of content that you post or otherwise make available via the Web Site. See below for clarification of acceptable forms of copyright.

We have the right but not the obligation to monitor and edit or remove any content as we see fit. We take no responsibility and assume no liability for any content posted by you or any third party.

We acknowledge that copyright and ownership of any uploaded image, or other copyrightable content in connection with the Web Site is not transferred to us. For any content that you upload, you grant us a non-exclusive, royalty-free right to use and to publicly display such content on the Web Site or mobile applications.

Rules on copyright of images

We would rather not make life complicated, but we must protect ourselves and the forum by applying strict rules to comply with copyright laws.

If you can't comply with the rules below, or don't have the time to read and understand them, then we invite you to host the files on some external service and link them from your post.

Images and other material may only be uploaded if the copyright falls into one of the following categories:

Own Copyright
This will apply if you have taken the picture yourself. You are welcome to upload these images.
Fill in the comment field with "Own Copyright [your name or user name]"

Used with Permission
You may upload an image if you have explicit permission of the copyright owner.
Fill in the comment field with "Used with permission of [name of rights owner]"

Creative Commons
This will apply if the image has been released under a creative commons licence https://creativecommons.org/licenses/ note that there are several variants of creative commons license, and you must comply with any conditions applicable to the licence of the image. You are welcome to upload such images.
Fill in the the comment field with "Creative Commons [source of the image]".

Public Domain
An image is only in the public domain under certain specific conditions. Just because an image has been found on a popular web site does not mean that it is in the public domain. You may upload public domain images, fill in the comments field with "Public Domain Image [source of the image]".

Other copyright used under conditions of "Fair Dealing"
Fair Dealing is the UK equivalent of the US concept of Fair Use. The UK definition is however rather stricter and less friendly.
Part of the definition of Fair Dealing is:
Instruction or examination
Copying parts of a literary, dramatic, musical or artistic work or a sound recording, film or broadcast for the purpose of instruction or examination is allowed under the following conditions:
  • The copying is done by the student or the person giving instruction.
  • The copying is not done via a reprographic process.
  • The source of the material is acknowledged.
  • The instruction is for a non-commercial purpose.
If you believe that the context of your posting constitutes fair dealing under this definition, fill in the comment field with "Fair Dealing, From: [source of image]".
