407 - Replacing display - MFD

Post by Pappi »

Hello guys.

So my project with the 407 is continuing. It's a 2007.

The multifunction display is toast on it. The typical fault of lines and disappearing letters, as soon as it gets hot.

Been googling a lot and reading. There seems to be no repairing possibilities? If anyone knows it would be wonderful to try repairing it at home.

But I've been searching for replacement units and of course they sell them on Ali. But they all have the Bluetooth option that my car does not have. Can I whipe this out with pp2000?

There seems to be a lot of different types of MFD. I'm concerned that the ones on ali are to new for my ECU to recognize. I know I will need one with dual-zone aircon.

My current one is the white s**t box of Borg. Took it out today when I inspected the heater flaps through the center vent holes. (Both flaps are totally shattered.) But I was prepared for that, no surprise. Ordered new reinforced ones.

To clarify - I'm concerned that the MFDs listed are too new to my car so it will result in fault codes and beeping from hell. Since they have Bluetooth and USB and my car only has the RD4 N2...

You could always upgrade to RD45 - but if you want a replacement screen for your RD4, then part numbers are any of the following:
659350
659349
9821852480

Thanks Marc, again :)

I'm ordering a MDF tonight. New heater-flaps on the way and engine flush with removal of banjo bolt filter coming soon. This car needs some work for me to be happy.

Will post in this thread how the new MFD with Bluetooth options reacts to my RD4/ECU. Hoping I can change the VIN of the new MDF in pp2k or diagbox.

Yes you can code the RD4 Head Unit easily enough with Lexia for a 2005 C5. Run a Global test and then select the Head Unit ECU, select and go into parameters / configuration / manual configuration and the options should be there.
