FAPLite

Has anyone here tried FAPlite -android software? Any recommendations on (preferably slim and cheap) bluetooth dongle that works with it?

Not tried your Fap thingy but I bought a dongle from Poundstretcher................for £1, it's tiny but seems to work fine on my old Dell laptop

FAPlite is interesting software, because it can even do some telecoding on Citroens if I understood correctly. However I got bluetooth -dongle, but it doesn´t work with that software (torque works just fine). FAPlite requires latest obd-protocols supported, but it's not easy to find on ebay those protocols these cheap bluetooth dongles on sale support.

I shall venture out to my C5 tomorrow and see if I can get FAPlite to work on it using my OBDII bluetooth and Android devices.

Prompted by Xantippa's request yesterday, I downloaded FAPlite to see what it could do - and it's actually quite good :)
It worked 'straight out of the box' for me using an old OBDII reader I've owned about 4 or 5 years:
OBDII reader - own work
OBDII reader - own work
FAPlite (as opposed the paid for version) gave me these readings straight away:
Not sure about the Fan Speed 100% reading though !!
FAPlite base readings - own work
FAPlite base readings - own work
If you go for the 'paid for' version you should get the following listed additions (note - some are already available in the free version)
FAPlite paid for additions 1 - own work
FAPlite paid for additions 1 - own work
FAPlite paid for additions 2 - own work
FAPlite paid for additions 2 - own work
I tried out the cooling fan actuator test incorporated into FAPlite and it span up the engine fan no problem.
FAPlite reported a preheat fault but wouldn't clear it - not surprising really as I think that's a spurious fault anyway !
FAPlite worked straight away on both my Samsung Galaxy A3 phone and Lenovo tablet running Android 6.0.1
I'm very tempted to go for the paid for version, although more out of interest than any real diagnostics necessity.

Note - diagnostics performed on 2009 C5 X7.

What about depressurising the hydraulic circuit? Are there any programming functions available (telecoding ECUs / Key programming etc?

At present it seems to be aimed at engine and gearbox ECUs and I've seen nothing yet to indicate it'll communicate with the suspension (or any other) ECUs.

Did you grant FAPlite 'Location Access' under App Permissions on your phone/tablet ? It requires this to be able to talk to the OBD reader.

OK, so sounds like it would be useful as a portable and concealable tool for checking he status of a car before buying and reading / clearing faults - so much easier then turning up with a laptop and a mile of cable to the seller!

I suspect that it won't have any programming functionality or diagnostic troubleshooting at all as that will require licensing by PSA, but useful for the odd data telemetry and fault reading / clearing. Thanks for the update.

It's useful if only to quickly and painlessly check how much additive is left in the reservoir :)

Plus expect additional features as the developer is very active. In other words please buy the full version to support his work - it is worth it!

As it uses the ELM327 interface would it not be missing the K-line and a few other pins? This would limit the number of ECUs it can see.

Having said that it looks like a good toy!

I think there was a pop up for that and I granted access. It tries to connect few times, but then comes error about "bad clone adapter". Have to check that again though.
