19mph or 31mph message on dash and centre console loss of power

Post by Lisa Evans »

Hi all

New to here, hoping someone can help.

I have a 17 plate Megane GT Line. It has this strange fault that it keeps having where I get a 19mph or 31mph message on dash near to the speedo and the centre console loses power. You hear a relay click and the centre console goes off....after approx 1 minute it resets and come back on.

Garage has never come across this before.

Thanks

Lisa

They say they've done a hard factory reset of the engine....not sure if they have or what that entails but I still have the fault.

Can't find anything online apart from at 19mph blind spot detection kicks in but my vehicle doesnt have this and at 31mph adaptive cruise control kicks in but I don't have this either.

That's all I can find to do with the 2 speeds that come up in the dashboard.

Maybe my car thinks it has both of these features 🤔

?? I wonder if they have been "set" as present in the past...

What is a "hard re-set"

ECU needs a new upload/re-write.

The hard reset is probably disconnecting the battery for a short while then reconnecting.
With most Citroen and Peugeot models there is a somewhat involved procedure that if ignored can cause havoc so it would be best to know before doing that if there is such a requirement with Renaults.

We don't have a very active membership for the Renault section so you may wait for quite a while for an answer to the problem, especially as yours is such a recent model.

Have you tried contacting Renault head office? Very often the dealerships are found wanting when it comes to complex or rare problems.

Have you tried other Renault forums? They are generally more active than here.
This looks like a good bet, lots of activity there.

How long is the manufacturer's warranty on Renaults? If it's three years, like the PSA one, then take it in to your dealer.

myglaren - thanks for your reply. I thought that but I didn't lose any of my settings!!! Which surprised me (did they do it).

I'll try to contact them directly thanks for that.

I tried that forum last night and it wouldn't work but it has now. Thanks.

Paul-R - I did take it to the dealer that's who have never come across this before. There is literally nothing online about it anywhere so thought I would come here in the home someone else might have had the same issue. I think its 5 years so at least they have a while to find the fault!
Thanks

It might be that your car is the first occurrence of the problem. If this is the case it could take Renault quite a while to track it down, as they would have no previous experience to work from. Saying that, I hope that the problem HAS occurred before so you DON'T have to be without a car for an extended period of time.

That's my worry :-(

Just at least its documented before my warranty runs out in a few years. Fingers crossed I'd have a leg to stand on if they are aware for this ount of time.
