Kangaroo Megane

Post by Eddy »

I have a 96 Megane Classic 1.6. For about 6 months now the car will not drive smoothly (Kangaroo's) at 30-40 mph, in addition in the last week it has started to stall when cold and the engine management light has started to come on whilst driving. (can fault codes be read without any specialist equ.?)
Any suggestions would be appreciated.
P.S. No comments like "learn how to drive...". (the sort of reaction I have had from other sites) The car has a problem.

This ones for the W/shop .,from here engine may be in default,
the main correcting factor for a F/Injection engine is coolant sensor in cyl head,WILL couse probs on cold start and heating up ,,AN engine on limp home mode can run quite well when HOT,because default settings are programmed on hot engine 80c ,BUT when engine cold, operating starter overides default ,once engine starts default returns and car would stutter along road until hot,,faulty Lambda sensor can play havoc, usually in your pocket too,You can buy code readers,in halfords not to hard to use may be quite pricey,,your flashing dash light is recording a sensor fault of some kind INPUT sensor,Crank angle sensor is most important here,on early models if dirty could cause spurious misfires,a failure would stop engine dead..
Agood digital voltmeter can be an asset,,A methodical check here all
input sensor plugs ,ign system, you can check sensors on engine with D/Meter,but if not sure leave alone

Thanks for the suggestion, just sorted the problem, it turned out to be a split in the vacuum pipe to the MAP sensor.
Cheers
