A tale about Megane brakes
A friend rang me the other day. She has a 2005 Megane 1.4 and the brakes were worn. She brought it to a one man garage near her house and the "mechanic" diagnosed front discs and pads and rear pads. Total cost €350.00 about £300.00 because the brake discs are connected to the flywheel and it's a big job! I advised her to wait and rang the motor factors, Mintex discs and 2 sets of pads came to €82.00. By the time I'd called her back he'd started on the car no doubt concentrating on the flywheel. I know garages charge a lot but this really isn't a big job and very expensive especially for a back road oik
Oh buggle
Re: A tale about Megane brakes
Weird megane, both of mine had brake discs connected to the hubs. They were no more difficult to change than any other car, except the rears on the more modern one which the e handbrake refused to let me change.

Re: A tale about Megane brakes
I'm very sceptical about brake disks being connected to the flywheel.

Re: A tale about Megane brakes
Had it perhaps been in a terrible road accident, squashed between two HGVs maybe? that's the only way I can think of for a Megane's discs to be attached to (or indeed anywhere near) it's flywheel! Either that or somebody needs their "business" naming so as other people can avoid being ripped off.

Re: A tale about Megane brakes
When I had my Megane I changed the lot easily, I'd have done Sarah's for €50.00. I'd have left the flywheel in situ and she'd have had almost €200.00 to spend on lipstick or whatever young ladies spend their money on
