Megane III 1.6dci Energy 130 Power / Turbo Lag after Gear Change

Post by brivw »

Got a 3 month old Megane III 1.6dci Energy 130, had it from new and I'd read before buying that this particular engine had quite a lot of turbo lag under 1800rpm, then after this the power kicks in.

My issue is not with this, but when accelerating quickly and changing gear, particularly 1st to 2nd and 2nd to 3rd, if you shift quickly, say pulling out of a junction, when you come to apply the throttle immediately after the shift there is at least a 1 second pause before the power kicks back in.

I've had it back to the Dealer twice now, they sort of admit that it doesn't seem right, but plug in the diagnostics and nothing shows up. Last time it was in they "reinitialised" the software (not sure exactly what that involves) but its just the same. Also work noting the fuel consumption is low 40's and thats with combined motorway & local journeys, not siting in traffic. Can anybody confirm if they have heard of similar behaviour with this engine, are they all like this, or offer any advice on what the problem could be?

OK stupid question, what speed/revs are you changing gear at?
