Megan 1.4

Post by daviemck2006 »

Hey guys. Here's me asking about a Renault. Back to French, possibly. be a use the prat that was going to sell me a c5 pulled out, I'm looking for wheels. Has anyone any thoughts on a Megan I. 4 oasis, a 2005 with 90,000 miles covered a full service history with recent belts? Anything to look out for? How would you value it at? Just a different maker. I have o lying ever had one Renault, it was an 18 1.6 to way back in the early 80's

hi ya I drive a 15 year old scenic 1.6 I use as my van i've had it five years it's now got 184000 on the clock and it's still going strong and all it's cost me is a complete exhaust system - battery and brakes all round other than that it's never missed a beat so as long as it's got service history and drives without fault and you like it why not.

Davie my boss had a Megane 1.6 I think a bit newer than yours. Don't think he had any probs although the handbrake lever was a bit odd. I had a Scenic 1.4, the engine was really a bit small for it but it drove really nice and I now have a Modus 1.5 diesel which goes well apart from a rattle which I think is possibly the heatshield. I think it's the same old thing, oil and filter every 5-6k and they last for ever.

It's mine now. It drives without fault, apart from a clonk which sounds like a drop link or ball joint. It has a very complete service history, every 10000 miles, some of it a Renault dealer, some an independent garage.. It does have a few trolley dents and scuffed wheel trims, but the small marks just kind of confirms it has not been crashed or repaired so that's ok for me. And it's so much quieter than the fiesta diesel van! It's silent at idle, have to look at the rev counter to see if it is running!

Surprisingly roomy the standard Megane too. If you can get a good Renault they are excellent cars.

That's the first 200 miles done without any issue, in comfort and petrol gauge just down to 3/4., and computer claiming 41 mpg. I'm happy with that.
