Re: laguna boot won't open??
Water does get into the tailgate/glass release switch and over time the terminals corrode, if it does happen again you can release the tailgate if you fold the rear seats to access the boot area and you can see the catch at the bottom of the tailgate, insert a small screwdriver into the slot in the catch and the tailgate will open. The drain holes/tubes block up in the tailgate and this is the cause of the problem. The switches aren't cheap either and if water keeps on getting in they don't last long. (Don't ask how I know). Also watch out for the rear wiper spindle seizing up on the opening glass model lagunas, keep spraying wd40 or similar to prevent this happening.

Re: laguna boot won't open??
hi mark,
thanks for the advice.....my joy was short lived as I just thought i'd try it after i finished work yesterday and neither the boot,or the glass will open again...strange as once it did start working the day before it worked every time i tried it without a problem.....I read that the solenoid needs to be checked and to do this I have to remove the boot lining?? not sure what i'm looking for as i said in previous post, I just thought i had got lucky and it fixed itself.....it's going in tomorrow to have the back brakes done, and I keep getting the "check emissions" message on dash with the eml and spanner light...I have a little code reader and can cancel it and it will stay off for a day or two.I'm thinking it must be a blocked dpf filter? I was going to have this removed from mark(lighty on here) but I put a bottle of cleaner through it and it stayed off for a good while....It had a new egr valve late last year so it can't be that.....I really like the car but i'm beginning to wish I hadn't bothered which is a shame......i'm going to see if I can get into the boot again today.thanks for advice on opening it as I need to get the locking wheel nut adaptor out for the garage doing the brakes...............AS I said, the only part i have seen is the two connectors that connect to the boot switch and they look fine......I just gave them a good spray and sprayed wd40 into the holes where the switches are and it started working but now back to square one.....may get back in touch with mark soon if I decide to keep it and have the dpf removed but I don't want to keep spending on it...... cheers,dean..........

Re: laguna boot won't open??
maybe I dunno,I have read on here about people doubting these things, but surely they must be really thoroughly tested?? or they wouldn't be allowed to seel them?? it's nearly 20 quid for a bottle?? got very very good reviews compared to cheaper stuff?? Anyway, the poxy boot.........it's working again now, although I managed to break the glass opening switch, found one on e bay for 13 quid...what I want to know is, how do i get the boot lining off the back to get to the solenoid to check wiring etc there?? I have removed the plastic screws and the 2 torx scres but it seems very fixed still where the two handles are inside the boot?? seems stuck there although there are no screws to undo?? any help please?? thanks...

Re: laguna boot won't open??
The reason I say that is the DPF isa delicate balance using highly developed additives and micro coatings of rare metals which work very well until the system is not maintained correctly/fails/no long runs, ...and stops working, owners then ignore its "needs" and it causes other (often false) problems. I have seen so many people talking about everything the can think of so they can avoid the basics because it costs a bit more to service.
And then there are the people who sell this type of thing as a short cut who are just exploiting the fear/confusion buy offering hope/simple cure.
The list is long....from plastic "swirl makers" for my old Austins carburetors to In-Line fuel additives, £50 super chips and this stuff..............all snake oil.
These "other" problems are then addressed without the correct attention being given to the PF system. If the filter has no air flow it will not re-generate no matter what you put in it. ....take it off and clean it or if required get new (not to bad $$$ these days). Clean egr off the car and top-up Eolys, check live flow data on a lexia.
It is quite a simple system to maintain given the required service items like valve cleaning/Eolys top up/tank fill sensors ect.
Why would car makers not use this wonderful invention, what is in it, what tests have been done, does it just acid strip the PF.. ect ect or is it all "good reviews"......I cannot see anything that could be called proof.
So yep, just expensive stuff.
On the side however....thanks for polluting MY share or the world by removing the DPF,.... ...nice of you. You can guess, I feel strongly that the car should be as clean as possible and run with all the anti_P stuff they can put on them, it is OUR DUTY as humans who give a s~~t, to maintain that.

Re: laguna boot won't open??
Hi,
I'm afraid I can't help with the boot lining. As for the electrics, well it's French and they have a reputation to maintain. As for the emissions it all depends on how the car is used and serviced but I guess you'll know that. If you do loads of short journeys then it's the wrong engine for that job, however if it gets a regular blast at high speed for some distance then something is wrong. The choice of oil in DPF'd vehicles is critical, the wrong oil will soon block the DPF with combustion by products as will a faulty injector - poor spray pattern = soot = blocked DPF. Ideally DPF's should have a separate fuel injector in them that is used to regenerate them...
I hope you can get it sorted.
Steve.

Re: laguna boot won't open??
lol,
I don't mind the rant......it is cheaper to have a new dpf, seen them on ebay for £140......I just want it to stop flashing up this warning...not had the car that long............as for the boot, I got all the lining off, everything is bone dry,but I soaked it in wd40 while it was off anyway. I managed to break the glass opening switch and so left it disconnected while I waited for a 2nd hand one off e bay to arrive, and the boot has opened every time since then? maybe the switch that opened the glass was faulty? I have just put the new switch in and put it all back together and both are working absolutely fine?? Anyway,I have put some of this additive in ad we'll see how it goes.........I know nothing about cars which is why I am here for advice......... hopefully the boot problem is now sorted but we will see

Thanks for taking that position Deano....I did not really intend to be rude and your attitude shames me a little...sorry
LOL that lock...mine in the Facelift worked for the first week then never again.....I did not really need it as I always had the load cover extended.
Have you had the car on a Lexia yet ? it really is the only way of finding most things out other wise it gets expensive swapping parts on a guess. Do not let anybody tell you a standard garage code reader works just a s well...it does not, take that as a good reason to find a specialist Citroen Indi.
