Getting into a locked Megane Estate

Post by xsaras4ever »

Hello to all.

We are trying to buy a 2004 Megane 2, 1.5dci estate.

Its locked, the battery is dead and the little key does not work because the lock is seized through never being used.

The car is good, we have checked out the Vin number etc.

The seller is in a bit of a spot as its at a garage and they are charging him storage.

Is there a fast way in which isn't smash smash ?

We had a Citroen ZX estate once with the same problem and if you drill the rivets off and remove the rear numberplate, you can drill a 12mm hole in the tailgate and with a long nosed pliers you can access the rod that operates the lock and open the tailgate.

Being newer, we suspect that the Megane is not that easy.

PS: We need to know before Wednesday.

Thanks in advance

Hello all.

We got into it.

We put the front of it on axle stands.
Put the battery from our Casio watch into the card key (because that was dead too)
Removed the under-tray of the engine.
Put a minus from a spare battery onto the chassis
Long screwdriver with plus from battery onto starter solenoid from underneath.
Pressed open on card key and it worked.

Not bad atall.
