Windscreen wiper problem

Windscreen wipers work normally, but the washers don't work (wipers don't come into action either) and the rear screen wiper doesn't work.
It all used to work okay until about two months ago
It's all on the same stalk and I've tried replacing the switch but still this hasn't worked (expensive part as well!).
Any ideas?

Have you checked to see if you're getting voltage to the washer pump motor when you operate the switch? And does the pump run when you use the switch?
If you connect a voltmeter to the pump terminals and operate the switch, you'll be able to tell if the problem lies within the switch and electrical wiring, or in the pump/water piping.
If the pump's whirring when you push the switch, my money's on a blocked valve in the water piping.

Thanks but we think we've tracked it down to a relay now. They're flaming expesive as well so we're borrowing one first this time!
