Clio 1.2 Gearbox (1996)

Its a 5 speed box, only 35000 miles, seems fine in all respects except it keeps jumping out of 5th. Dealer advises a reconditioned gearbox - this seems a bit OTT for the problem.

Gearbox may need looking at - have you tried re-ligning the clamp on the gear selector rod to the gearbox? If it's a bit out it could mean 5th doesn't engage correctly.
