Megane Autogearbox OR ECU problem

Hello, I have just signed up to this forum becasue I have an odd problem with my 'P' Reg Megane.
Over the Christmas period while driving the car I was getting an intermittent fault whereby the car would jolt and almost stall, the rev counter would go up/down and the ECU warning light would temporarily flash and then go out. Afterwards car would drive OK.
On New Years Eve the car died on me while slowing down at a junction. Once restarted I would select drive but as soon as the gas pedal was pressed the car would die again without any jumping etc. Although Reverse gear works fine. I am not sure if this is a gearbox fault or a sensor fault relating to the ECU.
Please help as this is not a good way to start the new year !!

I had a very similar problem on my auto megan scenic. It turned out that the engine was miss fireing as one of the coil packs was faulty. Since this has been changed the car has driven with no problems
