Citroen c5 2009, Fitting genuine bluetooth module

Post by JayOh »

Hello, I have a C5 2.0 hdi Exclusive 2009.

I have managed to obtain a genuine Citroen bluetooth phone module and I assume that, like the Peugeot, it fits behind the glove box. If this is the case, could anybody tell me how to remove the glove box?

If the bluetooth module does not go behind the glove box, do you know where it is supposed to live and how to get to its home?

Thank you in the hope of....

Hi and welcome.

First of all, can you post or PM your VIN - I need to check on full system specs for your car. Fitting this module can cause problems with your system if not compatible with the other on board equipment / options. There were several systems available and each can have many configurations. We really need to check this before you install this part first of all.

Hi, thank you for your reply.

The VIN is: VF7**************[VIN obfuscated, can be read by forum staff]********. This task is going to be a fairly gentle process as I am working away from this week and I will not have access to communication systems from this evening until next Sunday.

I appreciate any assistance you may be able to provide
Thanks

John

Ok John, so I've checked your specs and you are likely to have a bit of work to do trying to fit this to be honest.

First of all - that module is not compatible for the X7. The connectors are in the wrong location for a start and that part number is not for this model.

Next, you have the RD4 system - and looking at your specification, you only have the items that I have marked with yellow dots in the diagram below. You would require to have the items marked with Red dots too:

Yellow Items you have, Red you need
However, if you were to locate the correct part - the difficulty a friend had was trying to locate the pre-existing microphone wiring end output.
So you'd need the USB cable and the correct module and support unit, then you'd need to configure it to your car's system using Diagbox.

These Pictures show the location of the unit on a right hand drive.
Alternatively, you could source and RD45 unit - which has the blueooth unit built in to the Head Unit, so won't need any extra units to be sourced. The USB cable and socket can be purchased later if you want to have MP3 files played off a USB stick etc. You may need to replace the multifunction screen display for the version to support the RD45 and will need to configure the unit to the car to enable the changes though.

Thank you Marc. I am up for a challenge so I will have a look around. I'll let you know how I get on.

While I am here, I have one more question about an unrelated annoyance. The powered tailgate works in all resppects except that it does not latch on closing. Is there any way of adjusting the latch or latching hoop to bring them closer together?

You may want to read this thread: viewtopic.php?f=52&t=58078&hilit=rd45#p540330

I originally had the RD4 but upgraded it to the RD45 in order to get hands free connectivity. I had to run my own wire to the microphone from the back of the radio as I couldn't trace the terminus of the pre-installed wiring.
