406 clutch ajustment

Post by awwalker »

Just wondering if there is any ajustment on the clutch in my 406 TD?
the clutch is disengaged when the pedal is touched ( right at the top)

Hi
What engine do you have fitted & what year is the 406 in question?
1.9 TD had a auto adjusting cable but the 2.1 TD had a hydraulic set up.

Check the pedal travel - if it's not 140mm then adjust it so it is - if it's auto adjust, then push the clutch to the floor, and slide your foot off it so it bangs up, this should adjust it if necessary. If it still disengages as soon as you touch the pedal, then it's new clutch time I'm afraid.... the inside out clutches they fitted to these engines wear like that. Oh, they're a right PITA to replace as well - although easier than the equivalent Xantia....
