306td with 71000 and r reg. the problem is when i rev the engine up passed 3000revs when i change gear i get a lot of white/gray smoke out the exhaust. also when its getting dark you can see a lot of smoke/vapor in the car lights behind.

Sounds like the pump is over fuelling.........

A lot is subjective, it could be fine. Go down to your local MOT garage and get them to test the emissions. It always looks worse at night when you have cars following you. But otherwise yes, the pump could be overfuelling, but unless somebody has played with it in the past I doubt it. Try an Italian tune up [:-)]

also have the turbo checked out white smoke could indicate turbo charger wear

First thing to do is put in a new air filter, this is most likely the culprit, they can be blocked and not flowing very well even if they look fairly clean and your engine needs a lot of air once its past 3000rpm
