I have a 1999 Peugeot 306 1.8 XS, I'm looking into tuning what are the best routes? I've recently looked into getting my ECU remapped what else could I do and what problems am I likely to experience from having my ECU remapped.

The best way to tune the 1.8 is to ditch it and get the 2.0!
You could try getting hold of things such as the cams from the XU10J4 or even the J4RS engine, this will probably add some power to the top of the rev range. Maybe an induction kit, but you wont really see any gain from this, just extra noise so it sounds faster!
I seem to remember reading the 1.8 16V engine is very restricted and detuned in standard form and gains can be had, but they are expensive.

Thanks for advice, gonna stick with the 1.8 as only just bought it. It does seem to lack a bit of power for a 1.8 16v do you know where I can get any literature on the particular model?
