Oil Levels

Post by ezee_duzit »

I've just purchased a 1999 'V' 306 1.8 XS, the electric oil guage confused me slightly, it read low, so i thought I'd add a litre it then rose to full? Could someone tell me the ratios on the gauge?
Cheers

Around half a liter will bring the oil level from the min marking to max one.
Can I ask why you didnt check the oil level dipstick under the bonnet???

Only bought the car, Sunday. So putting a litre in at the min mark has over filled it then? Cheers for help.

Hi
Does your local Peugeot dealership have an Express fit section???
They have been doing oil and filter changes for a tenner for the last few years.
You need to drain the level to the max mark on the dipstick, and seeing as you are draining some out, you might aswell change the oil and filter.
You will ruin the seals in the engine running with to much oil in it.

Im not sure what grade you should be using, But if you pop down the parts dept of your local Peugeot dealer you will find that oil & oil filters can be picked up cheaper then Halfrauds could ever dream off.
Brake pads are cheaper from the dealer also, In fact the main dealers service parts are all cheap [:)]
