going to see a pug 106 1.4 diesel tonight to hopefully buy, anything i should look out for except for the norm H/G problems etc?

if you want a diesel my advise is buy a TD .better an older TD than a newer D

I have always had ordinary (non turbo) diesels, simply because I do not need the extra power and would prefer a few more mpg.
However the 1.4 diesel is the worst Peugeot have made, it must have lasted only 3 years in production. Now compare that with the 1.8. 1.9 etc etc which other manufacturers ended up fitting ( not including Rover of course!)
