405 CV joint

Post by delboy »

I need to replace my N/S outter cv joint. Does anyone know how the joint is helt to the shaft. I have only replaced a vauxhall and that was held by a spring clip.
Many thanks.

If it's similar to the BX, and it's likely to be, the joint will be held by a circlip. Give the joint a smack, outwards to release it. Hold the drive shaft,or it might pull from the gearbox.

Make sure you have a couple of new circlips before you start. The old one is liable to be brittle and you are almost certain to bend the first one when you put it back together.

I have a whole, unused, N/S GKN driveshaft for a 405 for sale if you like.
