807 2.2hdi p0190 non stater 9v at fps signal

Post by taffy »

Hi guys
Looking for some experience as I've been in this situation before and it beat me..
807 2.2 hdi..car one morning took a while longer to start one morning and was running rough but drove 5 miles to work..worked 11 hrs car took along time to start really running rough and injector knock came bk from work..thought I'll go put some posh diesel in with injector cleaner and went to drive to petrol station..end other road went to pull off from junction and the car knocked so bad I thought the can belt had gone..this was my thinking so I proceeded to strip Ca down..can belt OK...checked timing...timing OK...checked fuel system good pressure low end and borrowed a snap on and was showing 225 rpm and 80 bar pressure...had a fiddle with things earths etc cleaning connections to no avail Gower brake cleaner got her going but still very rough even with fps disconnected..now I'm reading on fps 5v,9.5v,0v...I have lexia now which is dogs bzz compared to snap on and have read through all the faults it has..its has Eolys tank empty fuel cap magnets and fps,I've changed fuel filter was like mud in there fine mud, cleaned for looked quite blocked cleaned fps had sludge on it cleaned out rail and fuel temp housing cleaned earth on bar to body and body to engine..I've drained tank filled with fresh and cleaner I've put a whole bottle of injector cleaner in fuel filter and when it ran on brake cleaner it sounds better but wouldn't idle...I've heard about this 12 inch wire from fps to loom being defective but would it cause a 9.5 v signal when it should be 0.5v?
Thanks for listening guys and hope u can help...I don't want to scrap her :(

Generic OBD Error Code Details for P0190
Fuel Rail Pressure Sensor Circuit
What does this mean?
OBD Code P0190refers to
The Fuel Rail Pressure (FRP) sensor is a diaphragm strain gauge device in which resistance changes with pressure. The electrical resistance of a strain gauge increases as pressure increases, and the resistance decreases as the pressure decreases. The varying resistance affects the voltage drop across the sensor terminals and provides electrical signal to the Powertrain Control Module (PCM) corresponding to pressure. Strain gauge type sensors are consider passive sensors. A passive sensor is connected to a voltage divider network so that varying the resistance of the passive sensor causes a variation in total current flow. Voltage that is dropped across a fixed resistor in series with the sensor resistor determines the voltage signal at the PCM. This voltage signal is equal to the reference voltage minus the voltage drop across the fixed resistor. The FRP sensor measures the pressure of the fuel near the fuel injectors. This signal is used by the PCM to adjust the fuel injector pulse width and meter fuel to each combustion cylinder.
Symptoms
Possible sumptoms of OBD code P0190
- Engine Light ON (or Service Engine Soon Warning Light) - Engine will not start
Causes
Possible causes of OBD code P0190
- High fuel pressure - Low fuel pressure - Damaged FRP sensor - Excessive resistance in the circuit - Low or no fuel - Wiring harness connector of the fuel pressure sensor - Fuel Rail Pressure Sensor - Fuel

Post up your VIN so we know exactly what you have. Faults codes vary according to the injection system used in the vehicle and can vary significantly. Generic fault codes are simply that - generic.

Ok, so unfortunately, due to the age, there is little in the way of specifics for this engine in terms of faults that PSA have available. I suspect that is a generic code shown by the OBD reader and not by Peugeot Planet 2000.

On the 807, P0109 only comes up against the petrol ES9A engine - not on the diesel and is: Inlet manifold pressure sensor signal fault: Coherence.

So you might have better luck with hooking your Lexia up, running a Global Test and reporting on all the fault codes that come back on that.

As for wiring, have a look here - there's lots of info for testing vehicle wiring plugs...:

Sorry mate its p0190 fuel pressure sensor signal fault

Won't start not even on brake cleaner now..had it running before it was flying for bout 100 meters then died hasn't started sine

My mistake - I mistyped but I did use P0190, not P0109 as posted - at least that guide might help you troubleshoot the electrics.
