1.6HDI clot turbo feedpipe

Post by Theflyingpostman »

My wife's Peugeot 307SW 1.6HDI 110 now is done 112,456 miles, but the turbo was gone quite early than expect. The turbine screw was loose and fell into turbo intake and shredder the turbine head fan. The turbo specialist have recondition the turbo, the mechanical who removed and refit he said the turbo feed pipe was clot grease carbon is restrict the oil flow because the turbine bearing was worn very badly and the turbo inside oil leaked everywhere down to the intercooler was 1/4 of oil at the bottom of intercooler he had to drain it out. He recommend me to blank the EGR because the EGR is caused dirty and grease evaporation when it is hot and stick to the inner pipe over the years it will clot the turbo feed pipe again. He said the 1.6HDI is very common problem nearly every of 1.6HDI have same issue leaking and clot.

Is there other anyway to prevent it happen again, we do service oil + filter regular on time but we can't understand why is happen at the lowest mileage. Would the low oil viscosity grade help the flow better when it get warm it will thin the oil and clean inside the tight hole of turbo feed pipe?

Also other is the injection one of them is black carbon crumbles round the injection seal is this normal?

Don't block the EGR you'll increase pollutants. The easiest way to get good oil flow to the turbo is to remove the oil feed pipe and break the little sieve inside it. I change my oil every 6k miles as well oil is cheap compared to engines.
