Airbag Light Peugeot 207

Post by Neamus »

Hi all users,

1 month ago, I received a fault from my Peugeot 207 that said 'Airbag(s) or pretensioners seat belt(s) faulty'. The first thing I did is check all the connections in the passenger/driver’s seat and everything looked fine and there were no loose connections. I even put contact cleaner on all the connections under the seats and even the rear seat connections. I took the car to the mechanic and when he plugged the OBD2 diagnostic computer into it, the airbag ECU didn’t respond back. The horn works meaning its not the COMM 200 unit. I’m not sure what options I have now other than to get someone with Peugeot planet to check it but I just want to know any solution to resolve this problem and If this is a common fault with this car.
Thanks, in advanced,

I’ve moved this to the Peugeot section.

The horn working does not mean the Comms unit is not faulty. The Comms unit is a complex control unit that communicates with the BSI on the CAN / VAN network. It is quite possible for for any or all the functions to work, yet it could still be faulty.

As for your airbag situation, you will need Peugeot Planet 2000 / Diagbox to get it properly diagnosed, as aftermarket OBD readers are not guaranteed to be able to work with all ECUs.

There could be a fault with the wiring under the passenger seat carpet, which is a common occurrence, but one needs to ensure the battery is disconnected and wait for 10 minutes before doing any work on the airbag systems,,

Once you get a proper diagnosis, pop your codes back here.

I have this exact problem however I bought a used airbag module after getting the light and I am yet to put it in the car to test if the light will go away. If I can't, it's going to the dealer Monday morning for a proper scan and possible fix. If you did manage to fix it, let me know
