GTi or Mi16?

Post by philhoward »

Just bought some Alloy wheels which were supposedly off a 106 GTi, but looking at them I'm pretty sure they're actually off a 405 Mi16; can anyone confirm which is correct?
Question 2 - what size/length/thread are the bolts, as I didn't get them with the wheels?

Early Mi16 pre-facelift. They are 14 inch compared to the later 15 inch ones. The tyres are likely to be 195x60x14, the 106 GTi uses 185x55x15.

yep they're definately mi16 wheels! the bolts are a 10mm thread. get bolts from a breakers yard. fords also use the same thread pattern so there aint a shortage of bolts!

BTW, Got some brand new GTi-style bolts (with the washer) for £1.70 each; cheaper than s/h ones on ebay! silverline - Peugeot ones are M12x1.25mm; Ford ones are M12x1.5mm - won't fit!

Bear in mind mi16 alloys are ET29..... that is, 29mm offset. They stick in towards the arch closer than other pug alloys. 10mm closer than the 205/309gti alloys for example.
