PEUGEOT 207 2009 KEY CODING

Post by nickfrost83 »

Hi all, I'm after a bit of advice. I have a 2009 207 Verve, I was given only one remote key for my car, I have read that there is a way of programming keys to a car using various techniques ie disconnecting batteries, turning keys in ignitions etc. If I was to have a standard non remote virgin key cut is it possible to code it without the expensive services of an auto locksmith? Any advice would be great.
Many Thanks
Nick

If it's the same as equivalent age Citroens (and it probably is) then the answer is no.

You need to pair a new key to the car using a Lexia/PP2000/Diagbox. You can't pair old keys (even with a new blade cut) without changing an internal "one time use" chip as well.

The bit about "turning keys in ignitions" is probably a reference to matching the remote lock/unlock system in the key fob to the car. This relies upon the key itself being recognised first of all.

If you have a new non-remote key cut then this will to be paired to the car using the code reader assuming it has the proper inside and isn't just a blade with solid plastic fob.

Can't help personally but you will need a virgin key. Have you had one cut already?

Do you mean the original working key?

If so then there is an alternative way of getting a second working key. A specialist key supplier can cut you a second key and clone the ID chip. I'm not entirely sure but I think that they don't need to pair this cloned key to the car. This may not be correct for these later cars as they use rotating codes but the specialist could tell you.
