206 Faulty power steering - asking for possible reasons

Post by rzepek2pl »

I've noticed that my 206 has problems with power steering. Right now it works like this: when I drive after a break (eg. in the morning), it's bearable. After only 10-15 minutes it just stops working. I know there can be a million and one reasons so I'm just asking for possible suspects. I refilled the fluid. When I bought it, the previous owner told me about a problem with the rear axle, no idea what's wrong with it. When I turn after the power steering fails, the car 'hums' (from lack of a better word), I think there's a problem with one of the McPherson column bearings. Can it be that the computer isn't getting enough power?
What do you think about my ideas? Do you have some of your own? If you need me to be more specific, I'll say as much as possible. I'll be so glad for your help. :)
