308 1.6 hdi p0202 intermittent check light

Post by galonki »

:? Hi trusted friends, my peugeot 308 1.6 hdi 90 from 2008 has over the last few months been intermitently throwing the check engine light and having sourced myself a real diagbox interface its picked up p0202 controls injector cylinder 2.

The light seems to come off and on as it wishes and im finding it hard to pinpoint what it is beyond the obvious meaning of code.

Perhaps someone could point me in the right direction?

The car seems to run fine in terms of fuel economy and power althought i cant say ive ever liked the sound of the engine but maybe thats just coming from a 2.0 hdi c5.

Thanks in advance, attaching what diagbox shows.

If its very intermittent it might be worth swapping injector 2 with a different injector, clear the fault & see if its the same injector fault that comes back.

Bear in mind the injectors are numbered from the flywheel end of the engine.

Thanks for the insight wheeler. Based on your suggestion i'm starting to think the injector itself is the most likely culprit.

I can even get another used one for 25 delivered from fleabay which i think is the way to go due to value of the car.

I'm just concerned about the difficulty of trying your suggestion in terms of removing/ replacing the injector with garages saying they run the engine for hours before even trying to remove them and that they can snap?

Would a diy person like myself be able to undertake this i wonder or isit best left for mechanics for this engine?

Cheers
